I missed a huge chunk of the race because of a big local party last night, but was fun to follow if I am still incredulous about Simonsen's tragedy which obviously puts things in perspective. Congratulations to the winners and podium finishers - was a very tough edition of the 24 with the continuously wet and damp conditions, and the psych factor of such a tragedy creeping in from early on.

It was a very emotionnal race for sure. But this edition showed why the drivers and the fans are there despite the huge risks. Lots of close battles until the end, people pushing their cars and bodies to their limits, never giving up despite the crashes, the car failures and the rain, this is what Le Mans is all about.

On a more personal note, it was a great year for France again. Winning driver or team in all categories! Top 2 for OAK in LMP2 and a GTe AM win for a French team and 3 French drivers! Good to see that we're still successful in our own garden!

I was under the podium on Eurosport. I'll post a picture when there's a more reliable data connection.

Never knew a prototype spun just before Simonsen's accident.

Some people are claiming a diff broken and it caused his spin. Some say it was too much kerb and he lost it. So...?

I'm back from Le Mans. It was a great race despite the terrible incident in the first hour. I have slept only 30 minutes during a SC period in the morning and I have met a TBK member.

Looks like too much kerb and over corrected coming back off the painted surface...the broken diff probably came after hitting the tree.

Yeaa, driver mistake unfortunately. But down to conditions considering two other drivers spun before him.

I was wondering if there was oil or something down. Was the video posted from the onboard of the vette directly behind Alan? I don't want to double post it if it was all ready up.

Crazy, but tragic race.

Learned about Simonsen death about 1 hour from the checkered flag only (was watching Eurosport most of the time between start & finish). Though he was ok before that. R.I.P. Allan Simonsen.
