And as if by magic, Alonso finally receives a first and very public warning

as far as I know, he has never been criticised within the team before. Maybe some of the rumours are correct then?

Isn't Alonso's manager also looking after Carlos Sainz Jnr, you know, a Red Bull Jnr driver? I dislike the guy but if Horner met Abad about Sainz and then didn't discourage the media who believe there was a connection with Alonso during the meeting, which then created discontent within the Ferrari household because of that supposed Alonso connection... then he's played a blinder.

He would be stupid to accept that after he was pushed aside in favor of Alonso...

shouldn't "already wanted by Lotus next year" be "already wanted by Red Bull next year" ??

I love how for Di Montezemolo it must be torture to see Raikkonen ahead of the Ferrari's every other Sunday and in the championship standings.

Mistakes have been made in the past. I'm open to a move back to Ferrari for Kimi.

Still, I'd love to know what happened after Spain 2008, when an utterly dominant early season vanished like a snowflake in the sun.

Raikkonen + Alonso would be a dream team when it comes to team results. Isn't Ferrari the team that always says the team's interests come first? Then I don't see how they can hold onto Massa.

My understanding of 2008 was that Kimi struggled getting tyres up to temperature in qualifying. Combined with the understeering nature of the F2008 and it benefited Massa. By the time Kimi sorted out his qualifying issues, Massa was 20 points up the road.

still, it was only in the penultimate round he was out of the championship. What a messy season that was.

Yes but even by the time he arrived in Singapore (which wasn't the penultimate race... that was China, remember the swap???) he was almost 30 points behind Lewis anyhow.

And you say he was dominant early in 2008. He only had a couple of good races. That was all. That was hardly dominant.

i've heard that lotus is struggling with money, so i guess kimi is going to leave at the end of the season, and if its not to redbull maybe could be to mclaren.
webber is definitely leaving F1. Massa probably will remain: he knows the team and is experienced at ferrari, next year the cars will be brand new with the new engine so i suppose would not be smart to put a new driver on a new car without any clue.

Kimi going back to McLaren is even more unlikely than Ferrari and just plain absurd.

Would be pretty underwhelming if it turns out Raikkonen sticks at Lotus for another year, Massa's contracted has been extended and continues along Alonso, and next to Vettel in Red Bull racing is Mark Webber, who has changed his mind and will continue for another year.

IMO that's the scenario which is more likely to happen

I hardly see it likely that Webber will turn his back on his decision to leave Red Bull for Porsche.
