Im also happy, that Mercedes is good this year. But considering Mclaren had the fastest car in 2012 and going from a horse to a donkey didnt look like a good decision, but looks like the horse is now Mercedes. :)

i still wonder if this is pure luck or if he knew something we dont know. I remember everyone was calling this one a suicide to move from mclaren to mercedes.

not sure what this "everyone" stands for all the time. I thought it an interesting move, a bit of a risk, but I didn't write him off for making it (and I'm sure I wasn't alone in this).

I'm with you. I'm not so suprised Mercedes is going good, I'm suprised McLaren is doing so bad. I thought Mercedes might perform a bit below the level of McLaren. And suicide move, it's not like he moved to Arrows/BAR or something.

Of course he must have known something. To think that TBK members or even the rest of the paddock know how it's like inside McLaren better than him is pure madness.

Agree too. Mercedes worked on the 2013 car very early, and it's a good possibility that Hamilton knew something we don't know.

But I still think it's a bit luck that McLaren is so bad this year, just to allow Lewis to do a Nelson's "Ha!Ha!".
I don't know how could it be possible to think the so-fast 2012 McLaren would become a so crappy car in the 2013 season with no major rules changes.

But going by previous seasons, Merc is likely to go backwards while McLaren goes forward. You just don't know how the season will pan out. Looks a good move now but by the end of the season, next year, year after, who knows?

Someone on SkyF1 talked about this yesterday. He said that it's not that Mclaren (also Williams) is much slower this year, they actually improved compared to last year. The other teams just had massive improvements, but those 2 teams just stayed behind.

Because McLaren, in their infinite wisdom, never choose to do an evolutionary car. They always start from scratch. And sometimes they get it wrong.

In the past, it didn't matter if they got it wrong, because they had a top-tier driver to make the car look better than it really was and had a strong reputation for improving rapidly during the course of the season if necessary. Now, the top-tier driver is gone and all the best people are also gone.

McLaren are headed down the same plughole Williams found. It's a long drop...

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.

Great stuff from Alonso.
During the driver parade he stops his oldtimer and goes to the Spanish crowd for some high fives!

EJ to Whitmarsh - "If you were a premiership football manager, you'd be sacked by now wouldn't you?"

I know I'm in the minority, but that's why I like him.

The FIA telemetry system is working & will be enabled during the race.

A notice to the teams issued on Sunday morning say that the cockpit flag systems, safety car mode and DRS disabling will all be provided from race control - with the only issue now being automatic blue flag messages on the timing screens.

Nobody will believe me, but I predict there will be no Rain mess in this race.
