Denny did it to himself.

When a car is sideways, generally you turn into the slide, instead of turning left to hook the person below you. then you don't keep your foot in it til you slam the wall.

Generally, have you ever driven a NASCAR car before at 180 mph? Just curious to judge your expert opinion on this.

Well considering Denny kept his foot hard on the gas, which only served to help the car's forward momentum into the wall, I'm with Woodski on this one.

Wow! People on TBK know better how to drive in NASCAR than a multiple Cup winner. So much wasted talent here :(

Imagine the shitstorm of LOLs and memes if Danica had gone full throttle all the way from the top groove to the inside wall. I'm clearly on Joey's side here, and it sucks that Denny is hurt, but Denny dun goof'd.

As someone who has driven stock cars before, generally the second you know there's no saving it and you're gonna spin you lock it down and try to stay off the wall. Not too sure why Denny would have stayed in the gas unless he thought it would eventually gain grip and turn back to the right but it never looked like that was a possibility. I agree with Wookski as well.

Also, that was the best Fontana race I've ever seen. Such awesome racing at the end, and even a few points throughout the race. Liking this Gen6 car more and more.

Totally agree that Logano was not at fault for Denny's crash or injury, but I'll be surprised if one of Denny's pals doesn't try and "punish" Joey, if not then certainly Denny himself when he's back in a car (seriously, something about Hamlin is borderline OCD/psychotic).

I would like to think Denny would be smart enough to realize that his wreck wasn't Logano's fault. Him getting out of shape certainly was, but if he had just tried to save the car and come home third instead of keeping his foot in it and still gunning for Joey. He would have gotten sideways a little which seems like nothing compared to getting put into the wall at Bristol. (granted, I still don't know how Joey wrecked from what seemed like such light contact).

Not at all. I know there are people on this board who have had back issues, me included, this is serious. Mine isn't as bad as some but there's many days I have to do the stand up, sit down shuffle. Unfortunately I see Denny's 2013 season, as far as the championship, over. Hoping for the best.

He did turn back to the right, but it never came back. Just stayed in the typical lazy slide that these cars do now.

If you go to 10:00 you'll see Denny was kicked sideways from the contact with Joey along with Busch coming by on the high side. I think getting back to Logano the farthest thing from his mind at the time.

Or even better, if they gave a chance to a Nationwide driver like Johanna Long, Jeremy Clements, or someone like that. But it won't happen. They could still make the chase with the Wild Card, so they'll want experienced drivers.

Won't happen, but I'd love to see Johanna in that 11 car, just so she can make Danica look real average in equalish equipment. Realistically, I wouldn't be surprised if Michael McDowell took over; he seems to do better on the short tracks and has subbed for JGR before, but I reckon it's Sadler's if he wants it.

Yes, pretty safe to say they will be going with experienced drivers only, that will salvage as many points as possible to keep them in contention for the wildcard. Sadler for Marty and it'd be cool as it's his home track and all but then Vickers could take over for good as his next scheduled race in the #55 isn't until Sears Point in late June.

As for the past weekend, not going to take any sides as each and every one of the involved parties can be notched up as an asshole and a hypocrite so just enjoy the show they put on.

To qualify for the wild card, after wins you're relying on drivers points right? You'd think they would want to pick one driver for the next race through the rest of the season if they still have eyes on the chase.

The Chase is based on driver points. You'll have a hard time getting there without running the first five races of the season.
