What do you make of the 2014 Formula E series? http://www.formulaeholdings.com/

It's not up to F1 speeds/technology, but they are lining up London, Rome, Los Angeles, Miami, Beijing, Putrajaya, Buenos Aires and Rio de Janeiro to have races, with no fee to host them, unlike F1's £30m fees, see here: http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/105902

It does make me wonder if in-city single seater action might capture the public attention more than the overpaid, overdeveloped F1 world perhaps? Or will it just be another lower category racing series that doesn't get much coverage?

There's talk of people like Kobayashi and other F1 drivers without a seat maybe ending up there.

I think it's interesting to see what happens over the next few years, especially if we all end up driving more hybrid/electric cars, it could be that Formula E are onto a winner?

Sounds like another A1GP, Super League Formula etc.

All fun for 1-2 years, until the they realise they doesn't generate any money and the series will go bankrupt as soon as it came.

Yeah, unless the FIA heavily funds it I can't see it paying off. Will it attract personalities? I mean, it isn't on he road to F1, it is a stand-alone thing.

I don't think motorsport fans will appreciate the silence either.

London will be a street circuit, probably around the Olympic stadium.

Damn, when I heard that A)They were looking for a race in England and B)They wanted to race only on Street tracks I thought, GREAT, surely the way has been paved for the return of the Birmingham superprix!

But no, bloody london, as usual.

Ho hum, interesting concept and there does need to be more racing out there that isn't defined by getting people into F1, hope it takes off but it's going to need a lot of shrewd management and publicity to get it off the ground, let alone anything near sustainable.

Best of luck to them tho.

Interesting choice of cities there, shame that Durban isn't on there, would have been nice to see that place back

Was hoping of a return to Birmingham. Guess they got no money despite the Road Race Act is still valid.

The silent series. It has more potential for success given its greener direction than the likes of A1 & Superleague though. Will have to wait and see.

This is a direction all major motorsports will have to be heading to in the coming decades (or disappear): non-petrol cars and cheaper, temporary tracks.

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.

Will follow this series.

If only there was a way to make electric engines sound like screaming 3,5 litre petrol V12's.

How does the Tesla roadster sound so amazing? A more hi-tech version of this?

I Holland Domino's pizza's nowadays drives with electric scooters, and to improve road safety they added a sound to it. Maybe they can use that here too as an extra advert opportunity

Car looks great, like a combination of the first A1GP car (front) and the current Indycar (rear).
