Oz GP will probably be the best race of 2013. Anyway I can't wait for this one.

Or maybe Korea will surprise us.

March 14 to 17 sounds right to me, otherwise I have made a HUGE mistake when booking flights.

What I think we might see is tyre barriers like they were in 1996, green, black and white, as Rolex is now sponsoring the GP, that would be nice to change a bit the usual pattern.

Besides the race track area, what else there is in the park? I mean, places to walk around, camping area, stuff like this. Any good place to eat over there?

When I worked in Melbourne for a bit, the office I was in was right next to the park, so I used to have lunch there most days, but from what I've heard is that before the F1 race went there it was a pretty shit place

In a nut shell yes. Some of the buildings were already there (Powerhouse) but it wasn`t as nice as it is now. The golf course was always nice, but the park had a slightly tired feeling to it before the GP came along. The lake area also wasn`t as developed around the edges as it is today.

I remember going there with my family in the early 90s, and it was a place that you thought was nice, but not internationl nice. The main opposition came from people who live in the surrounding area. Albert Park always was, and still is a more exclusive, slightly snobbish leafy area of Melbourne.

The place is bloody boring, I was really disappointed. I was hoping to drop my girlfriend in the park and do some laps, but I took her with me because we couldn't find a nice place.

Funny though how, except for the pit-building, absolutely nothing reminds you that there is an F1 race each year.

Thanks for the informations man! I really can't wait for the GP weekend to come. Australia is such a great place for F1 races. I really miss the Adelaide days, some really unpredictable races over there, great action in a track that in my opinion is the best street track in the world. How perfect it would be if Melbourne oppened the calendar with Adelaide closing it.

Visited the Grand Prix in 2011 as part of my vacation to Australia and Asia. Arrived few days before the GP and wondered around a bit. It is a nice place, the overall atmosphere is nice but not racy. It seems to be a day out for whole the family. Quite nice, altough I was there alone (and later on with a friend working in Melbourne).
