please explain to me how this car, a winner in Brazil and strong contender at the end of last year, can, with no rule changes, suck so much?

"Our car appears to be lacking in grip and consistency, and is suffering from significant understeer and poor ride" - Whitmarsh.

But apart from that...

They designed the car around their best driver and then they decided to fuck him over at the contract table.

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.

Thank you! Didn't noticed it myself. :D

That post sums up my feelings for McLaren right now.

surely Whitmarsh's position, if it really is as bad as it looks, has become beyond untenable.

I think they will have a big problem then. Of course there are many key figures at McLaren but one who can follow into Whitmarsh's footsteps?

I thought Whitmarsh himself followed Ron Dennis a long time to get prepared for this role, they don't have anyone now do they?

I dunno, there's this guy at the top of Mercedes who might be on his way out at the end of the year.

Has had moderate success with Button in the past.

Apparently McLaren has banned their mechanics from wearing shorts - they're only allowed trousers.

Have fun next weekend boys.

Good reason to switch to Mercedes.

sitting at T1 in P2 the guy next to me noticed that Vettel was on the gas in T1 way before anyone else including Webber

its only day 1 but this season could be another Red Bull 2011-eske borefest

I think we should not jump to conclusions after two free practices

Perhaps there is some sandbagging, perhaps McLaren have a big margin for improvement we don't know anything about. Perhaps in race trim the McLarens will go much quicker, they might be much more reliable...

we just don't know yet.

what caused Hamilton's off? Also, cameras seem to have missed it completely.

I think we will see a start like last season, it's all about managing the races.

Nick Fry wouldn't exactly be an improvement from Whitemarsh.

Oh my bad.

Who do you mean. Can't really imagine Brawn at Mclaren tbh.
