almost straight up from larson's car is a guy (red hat, white shirt, and multi-colored shorts) - pretty sure thats where the tire landed

Nah, a little more to the left, the girl with the bright green ribbon in her hair was in the iPhone video from the stands right next to where the tire landed.

junior has some good ideas about dramatically reducing the spoiler at the plate tracks in this article, but i'm pretty sure everybody outside of the "great nascar pr machine" agrees that the racing was mostly non-existent on sunday.

http://espn.go.com/racing/nascar/cup/story/_/id/8981233/nascar-call-daytona-500-boring

to say the racing was "like it was in the 90's" is bs. dale sr could go from 30th to 1st in 5 laps back in those races, but were trying to legitimize the finish on sunday by pointing out that jr picked up 3 spots or something on the last lap? please.

i still have high hopes for the gen6 car at the rest of the tracks

Makes Driven look like a masterpiece in realistic crashes.

Also, the other cars apparently have bombs strapped to them that detonate at the slightest bump. That's nice.

Whoa! 8O

You can see all the camera equipment all set up there. It had been completely wiped out. If that cameraman hadn't seen what was coming...

And to think we've moaned in the past about cameramen doing just that.

The Daytona 500 brought in a 10.0 rating with 22% of TV's tuned in, the highest since 2006.

Fuck you Danica. Now we get this shit the whole season.

Just like 2005 when she led the Indy 500...

That rarely happened, and when it did it was remarkable.

I enjoyed all the races, although the truck race was a tad uneventful.

But at least they felt like genuine auto races instead of video game like shoveathons.

the 2 car tandems quote was more of a reactionary comment to the lame finish. 2 car tandems did at least allow drivers to try something rather than just sit around single file. however, a more sober response was posted at the top of this page with my agreement on what jr was saying, in the espn article, about reducing the amount of spoiler on the cars.

which commercial was it where all the drivers started the ad as fighter jets, then turned into their cars from a free-fall?

I'm pretty sure that was the ad for the Phoenix race next weekend.

On an unrelated note:

I was looking forward to see him get a decent finish while I was at Daytona. Shame he wrecked. At least I was able to snap a picture of his car before the start of the race. :p

153 pages of bitching, whining and tantrums.

Seems pretty appropriate for a thread called Danica Patrick tbh
