I think the CoT spoiled a lot of people. Last lap passes (for the win) at plate tracks used to be somewhat special, and certainly not typical. Once the CoT came along it was practically suicide to be leading because you could pass at will. It made for plenty of excitement in a way but it seemed lame to have the leader be in the worst position (yellow flag finishes aside).

You could see guys getting big runs and Biffle had plenty of steam to make decent contact with Harvick's bumper. That situation wasn't great for excitement; one of the best (current) plate racers against one of the weakest. I bet several other drivers in his position might have managed a lot more.

They probably don't have that much new cars available. They didn't thought it was worthy to risk writing off one of them.

Except Biffle. He is just a pussy.

Biffle could have just dumped Harvick there.

Idea for next year's race: fans vote on whether or not Biffle gets eliminated at the end of segment 2. Biffle gets eliminated regardless of the result

The first segment was badass, balls out racing. Once the crash happened everyone calmed down a bit, then at the end there just wasn't enough cars left to make it exciting.

And Biffle being a pussy, he's like the Chris Buescher of Cup racing.

Make the race 20 laps and call it a day.

*logs on full of regret for missing his first live daytona action in many years*

*sees the whole evening was pretty much sos bar a few bits*

*feels odd mix of emotions*

Oh well, if the duels are as dull Nascar will probably mandate some emergency changes to protect their precious 500, right?

O loved Seg 1, and in seg 2 got hairy just as you guys got commercials. In 3 was nice until just coming back from first commercial, then they got single file. But we have some plenty of racing overall, just need more cars in it. This Daytona 500 will be epic. Like the good drating days, like Daytona 500 from 2005 and other races at Dega, wich resembles somewhat the repaved Daytona.

Besides the 2 car tandem, the COT had an Epic aero pack for the RP races, my favorite ones where before the shock change. All Daytona races from 08 and 09 had the best racing for me. But the more slow moves style of the COY was nice for Dega races of the day. I like when it is harder to climb up the pack (not impossible). There are stronger cars, but they're in a much bigger number than last year. Can't wait for the race. Even the Qual i'm curious. Really pumped up.

The racing wasn't bad, I think the cars are still great, the first segment and parts of the rest were pretty exciting, but there just wasn't enough cars at the end and Harvick did some incredible defensive driving on the last lap.

Serious question.

Why the Biffle hate?

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.

Proclaiming the new car a fail after its first race, non-points on a plate track, seriously? A lot of people are either watching their first NASCAR race or don't have enough things to complain about. The teams hardly have any spares for the new car and practically no data about how it reacts when pushed, of course they're not going to take any chances.

Last year in the 500 he had the opportunity to pass Kenneth on the last lap but instead played safe and fell in line behind him ensuring a dull finish.
Particularly galling after having waited a shitload of time for the race to finish after the delays (something like 5am for us Europeans)
No one thinks the play it safe guy is cool.

In theory, if you're leading at the white flag and Biffle is behind you in 2nd, you win.

Biffle has no fuckin balls, anyone else would've dove under Harvick when he came up to block on the backstretch on the last lap. Killed any momentum the line had..... pussy.

Saying a race car driver doesn't have balls. Fucking hilarious

Ok maybe saying he doesn't have balls was much. But this particular race is all about winning. He had enough of a run to safely go to the inside of the 29 when Harvick was moving up.

I don't particularly "hate" him, I just think he's the most uninteresting, invisible driver in the field. What's the point in a racing driver who can't be arsed to win?

I quite like last night's race. Sure, it's not as good as what we're accustomed to seeing, but I enjoyed it.

Biffle should have ducked low when Harvick threw the block like that. Sure, he might not win, but at least try harder.
