it would save a lot of time and money if they had freezed aerodynamics, with freedom of engine construction

why not a 1993 chassis spec and choices for 3.0 V10 and V12 or 1.5 L4 or V6 turbo

not forgetting wider rear tires

Remember how we've frequently joked about a race in Morocco?

Apparently, Estoril has received today a 1A grade from the FIA, without any changes to the infrastructures.

So the cars are going to look and sound horrible. Great!

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.

I'll wait and see how they look and sound when testing starts. Doesn't look too encouraging at the moment.

The news about Perez is a shame as well. I personally think he would have matched Button if given a second season. He's young and still has time to develop into a decent driver. Button's nearly 34, and hasn't really had many stand out performances, even if the car hasn't been very good. As much as I like Jenson as a person, I don't think he's going to bring any success back to that team.

Perez on his sacking. Blames someone other than Whitmarsh for making the call. Says he had Whitmarsh's backing.

It would be cruel if Perez ended up without an F1 seat even if he doesn't have the pure outright pace of Vettel/Hamilton. I agree with several people who compare him to Button and I think that's true.

But if you're McLaren, Magnussen is the future and you don't need two versions of Button.

Yes, but you could keep the younger version

Unless you have another young driver waiting in the wings then you take the experiance for the short term.

That's what I think too.

Then again, maybe Button was out of the question because of his relationship with Honda?

And if Vandoorne does well, maybe he'll be the one to take Jenson's seat?

The FIA needs to take on a different approach to their design rule book. They need to designate certain aspects of the car that have iron clad rule designs, and then let the teams do what ever they want everywhere else. Before everyone jumps up and down about costs, they can set a certain budget cap, with say a 5% tolerance either way and if teams don't submit an expense report to the FIA then they don't get next years prize money. For every percentage over the tolerance limit the prize money reduces by the same amount.

Teams complain that it is so hard to do and enforce, well they have no problem building an increadibly complex and difficult F1 car, so they should have no problem with getting a good accountant.

Its a trade off, more design freedom to do whatever you want, but it has to be within a defined limit.
