2006-2008 was the worst looking era BY FAR in my book. As for modern F1, you can't beat early 1990's:

Overall, late 50's:

Ridiculous aerodynamic extras all over the car, no smooth surfaces, grooved tyres.
No thanks.

still better than the cars from 2009 onwards

Hell no. Just no.

Codename is 100% right.

I'll have to agree with LucasWheldon on this. I definitely prefer pre-2009. 2009 onwards cars just look goofy and out of proportion to me. The front wings are too wide and the rear wing is too high and narrow. This makes the car in my opinion more ugly than any flick-ups did on the old cars.

I like the whole 90's decade the most out of all the winged F1 decades. And it doesn't really have anything to do with nostalgia, as I was too young to experience anything in the 90's :p

Front wings are going from 1800mm to 1650mm. Nose is been lowered as well:

I liked the front/rear wing proportions of the Pre-2009 cars but I hated all the extra flaps, winglets, horns & dumbo-wings that sprouted off various bits of the bodywork. I thought all that extra stuff looked ugly.

Besides, who could forget these two (in hindsight, with rose-tinted specacles, but the point still remains) beauties of unique engineering?

Did you just call the 2004 Williams a beauty?

out. OUT !!!

Best engineering is simplicity and smoothness.

Calm down, granddad

I was being topical! Of course there doesn't exist a single car from this century that can be considered "beautiful" in a top 10 list. Sheesh :p

from the past 10 years I'd say my favourites are 2008 toro rosso (red bull in str livery and ferrari, sebastiens and awesome livery), 2005 mclaren and williams and Ferraris from 2007 and 2008

I prefer early 90 cars, specially the Ferraris and Mclaren-Hondas. Also late 90 Jordans, spacially J199 which almost gave HH Frentzen the title is reall great looking.
Post 2009 cars are just out of proportion in my opinion!

I loved the Williams FW24 as a package. Shape of the car, colour scheme and JPfuckingM 8) Gladly taking the grooved tires with that.

Well I didnt said I liked the first 2. Just the time when you could still have unique cars on the grid (FW26 is also one of my favorite cars). Not like all the RBR clones nowadays.

and the Mclaren and Ferrari actually look pretty good IMO.

Me too, especially the F1.08 is one of the most beautiful cars for me.

I hated the look of the 2008 cars. For me the last season with good looking cars was 2005

2005 was therefore special as they still had these nice engines there with a nice sound (for me) and at least some power

for me, from 2009, the cars look like giant lawnmowers.

proportion front wing - rear wing were best and culminated in some wonderful creations in 2008.

I'll take this

Ah thanks. I remember someone (can't remember who) said that the 2014 cars were reminiscent of the 2009 Brawn. Whether that'll turn out to be true is anyone's guess.
