I don't know how it is where you live, but in Paris the free underground newspapers are the worst thing ever. They're not as bad/racist/vulgar as a tabloid, but they're just mediocre.
Mediocrity and superficial, stereotypical thinking between two advertisings is what they offer society, slowly killing it and bringing the general information level down.

It is a FREE newspaper. If you're expecting top quality journalism normally associated with the broadsheets, then you're miles off.

No, I know where to look for for top journalism. I'm expecting them to disappear off the face of the earth.

In Spain they are pretty much dying out, I've only seen 20 Minutos for a while now, in Madrid at least ... and even then I never actually get a copy - I don't pass a stand on my way to the underground, that line was pretty much entirely in jest. Whilst I see the point that they're "good for the headlines" (and good for a foreign language learner when you're not quite of the level of reading a broadsheet news article - now I can dabble in those but I've only been learning for a year or so), I think people should be wanting to read a bit beyond the headlines rather than letting that become all they demand - the same as watching BBC News 24 (or BBC News in general, these days because the main news bulletins are more or less lifted straight from the news channel) isn't going to tell you very much, just the same thing several times, followed by a summary for those too stupid to understand it ...

All newspapers have bias, it just depends on whether you like their particular bias or not ... and even then there are examples such as La Razon here, a traditionally right wing newspaper, which actually has one of the more out-spoken critics of cuts to Arts and Culture funding, even compared to El Pais which is usually more left-ish and the recognised publication for the Arts (sort of like a Spanish Gurniad) ...

As long as the papers keep getting funded by advertisers they will stay around. The journalism might not be great but its light hearted and doesn't take itself too seriously. Unlike the tabloids, broadsheets and sheer gutter press these free papers don't tend to overvalue their own opinion.

Ok I'm completely lost here, so I assume this is what we're talking about:

And for Jean Todt:

It was there, but got destroyed by protesters. Bernie then put a media black out in place to avoid anyone thinking there was still conflict and violence ahead of the GP.

it's probably Bernie's reaction to the New Jersey race failing to materialize.

just found out that I share my birthday with Max Chilton, which is the race day at Bahrain

Hopefully I'll have a happy birthday, because it's the first time in 28 years that a gp will be on april 21
first time was that rainy race at Estoril...

TBH the track has been pretty shitty since they changed it from turning right at the end of Shoreline drive to turning left.
It lost a lot of its high speed nature at that point and made it so much harder for the cars to get a run on each other.
It took away the main overtaking spot (the chicane after the long straight with the bridges on the back straight) and the final hairpin does absolutely nothing for allowing the cars to follow closely, they spend the majority of the long straight trying to regain the ground lost under acceleration out of it rather than getting a tow and overtaking into T1

And this is from all the series I've seen race there over the years, Indycar, lights, Champcar, Atlantics, Celebrity races, Trans-Am and whatever else has been on the bill....

I'm not saying F1 is going to magically fix these problems (it'll probably be like Valencia for racing unless Pirelli is still around by the time F1 gets there) but it can't make it tooooo much worse (saying that they'll probably put a shitty chicane down the long straight just to prove me wrong :p )

Still, I'd hope it'd happen, they always call Long beach the Monaco of the US and if F1 has any chance of taking off in the US again it has to have more than 1 race and the prestige of the LBGP could well help with that.

There may have been back in the 60s or so when they used to have the South African GP in January and then wait until Monaco for the next one ...

The funny thing is that after 2001, the British GP has never been held on the weekend nearest my birthday (July 15th). But before 2000 (1997 to 1999, since I started watching F1 actually), it was always within 3 days to my birthday :p

Typically cars get launched on my birthday, latter end of January. Kind of fitting really. Cars being unwrapped. Although for the past number of years, after seeing the unwrapped "gifts" I've wanted to exchange them.
