The V6s will probably sound quite good...for V6s. The V8s we have sound quite good...except when compared to V10s. Which sound great. Except compared to V12s which are incredible.

The V6s won't sound awful. Racing engines rarely do (IndyCar and GP3 are the exception to the rule), but they will almost certainly be another step down. Not bad, just not as good.

Too hollywood in places. Too Driven in others. But still looks interesting and Ron Howard does tend to make great movies.

Eh, Angel & Demons? Most rubbish movie I've ever seen.

I'm not very psyched on this movie. Knowing the real story will probably ruin it. Wonder if it can't have like a Inglorious Basterds type of ending? (not saying that I think Tarantino should make an F1 movie, haha)

Yeah great way to twist my words... Ron Howard has ONLY made Angels & Demons and we should determine the potential of Rush just on your opinion of that movie right???

So what about...

Frost/Nixon
A Beautiful Mind
Apollo 13
Backdraft

...to name but a few.

if they don't do nothing like Driven it'll be excelent. Might not be like Grand Prix or Le Mans, but not bombs like Stroker Ace

But to be honest the sound has always been a massive appeal of F1 to me, and every time I took a friend to a Formula One event for his/her first time, they were ammazed about the sound these cars have. Personally I already miss the V10 era, because these things were just absolute beasts, you could feel the vibration they set off in every part of your body, even if you were behind a grand stand. The V8's are already a massive step backwards. The V10 just jumps at you, yells straight at your face and shakes you. That's what I miss. I got almost a bit addicted to it and was so dissappointed when I heard a F1 V8 for the first time.

I was in Singapore last year for the F1 race. You can stand just 2m away from the track near one of the long straights, and, uh, I don't know what you call a massive step backwards but these V8 were astonishingly loud. Even with ear plugs my ears were buzzing each time a car went by, and I could feel my body shaking like I was about to get blown away. Most people could only stand there for a couple minutes before they started to feel dizzy. I tried filming with my camera but the engine noise is so loud and high pitched that it was just saturated noise soup. When I was in the tunnel a couple corners before the start/finish line, I tried taking my ear plugs off and immediatly knew this was the worst decision I had done this year. Even back home, 2km away from the track, I could still hear the cars as if the race was being held in my backyard. I've seen V8 Supercars live, DTM, GP2, I've been to Le Mans before they changed the exhaust/noise rules and saw exhibitions with the old V12 Matras, and believe me, the F1 V8s make all that stuff sound like electric cars.
Maybe you can say that the V10 were better (although I've heard them live and I'm not sure I could make much of a difference), but if you think that the V8 are disappointing then you've got a problem.

James Hunt's best friend in the film is a talking pie. The plot twist is that James Hunt will be revealed as a killer robot driving instructor who travels back in time for some reason ...

What Hollywood movie has ever pleased the purists of the area of interest of its subject?
(And no, I don't think we can count senna here ;) )

Those interested in the space program ridicule apollo 13 for its inaccuracies, pilots slam top gun for not being super authentic, actual aliens mock star trek for depicting their brethren in the wrong colour and size. ...

This isn't a documentary. If there's a choice between accurate and entertaining it'll go with the second option. If it can do both....great, but that'll be an afterthought

I'm sure there'll be pieces where we roll our eyes and complain but it's still a chance to see our interest on the big screen so for that I'm looking forward to it
