They were both Mercedes and McLaren drivers, promised the world. Now Green has finally realised his single seated career is long dead and buried, and Mercedes doesn't care, so he's joined Audi. Paffet has been testing McLarens forever and his career has stalled.

I don't see DTM as a good seat when you're meant to he in F1, having signed for both McLaren and Mercedes junior program's.

The reality is though that both drivers just were not good enough for Mclaren yet ended up with decent careers in DTM, so instead of getting to f1 and not having a job in a few years they've managed really good careers ouside of it.

F1 drivers don't just not have jobs a few years after they leave. In fact DTM becomes a common place for them. There's no reason to suggest Paffett and Green couldn't have made a decent run. But they both got passed up by both McLaren and Mercedes for countless drivers.

Hamilton, Alonso, de la Rosa, Kovalainen, Button, Perez for McLaren. Schumacher, Rosberg and Hamilton again for Mercedes. Had di Resta not forced his way out of DTM and into Force India, he'd be on that list too. A questionable decision I suppose given how poor Force India are at strategy, which really hurt Hulk and Paul this year..but it's better than aiming for F1 and being kept in DTM just because Mercedes would rather nobody else have you than actually do anything with you.

People criticise Red Bull for the harsh treatment of young drivers in their program. McLaren/Mercedes is far worse.

I cannot stand that twat. "We have record pit stops". That means nothing if you fuck up every second stop.
