Renault always seem to miss out the padding on their studio helmet shots. The Nomex lining extends down past the bottom of the helmet. Always makes the shape look weird when they miss it out.

This alone makes my interest for the season to go up more than anything else so far.

Nots if the aerodynamical benefit is bigger than the weight-penalty...

If I would bet some team to not have the step, it would be Macca keeping the okayish look of their's 2012.

But,even if being a complete idiot, I think this "we don't want extra weight there" to be a little BS. How much can a cover weight? couple of hundred grams? maybe even less.

This, alone, won't do any difference in lowering the CoG. I see that if they think like that, later they will have a significant difference in the height of their CoG as the result of the sum of all tiny things they have where it doesn't need to be.

But this nose cover thing is an one-off, I suppose they could all have it with practically no impact at all in laptime. The marketing benefits(beautiful cars might atract sponsors a bit more easily, as the visual aspect is hugely important everywhere in our lifes these days) could be much greater than the couple of thousandths they might lose with that.

So instead of Hispania Racing Team (HRT) we'd have Canadian American Racing Team (CART). Bernie always wanted to be bring CART and F1 together...

maybe if they fire Grosjean and the Honneywell sponsporship falls through, we could have something like this.

would be nice to have a fuller grid. Sounds like Bernie is supporting them so it might actually be serious. He wasn't too fond of the new teams.

Yellow/Black R30 was the best.

But I'd rather a crap livery to accommodate sponsors than a better livery with fewer sponsors.

I feel that the field was more colored back then.

Now most cars look all slick and shiny and "corporate" if you see what I mean. Bar a few exceptions like Force India maybe.

Is Vettel that unpopular in Germany? Normally when a country get's a World Champion the interest rises pretty hard (Alonso in Spain, JB and LH in the UK). But in Germany it doesn't look like they care much about him?

They care, actually, but not as much as about Schumacher. I mean, not everyone knows Vettel, but everyone knows Michael.
It seems like in Germany we are kinda spoiled with Schumacher's success and now with Vettel's... 8 championships in the past 12 years are really a lot.

Vettel is not as famous as Schumacher but I would say he is at least as popular. Opinions on Schumacher are divided with all the controversy surrounding his career. Vettel doesn't have that.

Oh ok, thx for the explanation. As Phill suggested it's probably Ecclestone trying to get too much money out of Germany. Because with a own F1 team and Vettel I really couldn't believe the interest was that low.

The situation at the ring wouldnt nearly be half as bad if it wouldn't have been for those complete morons behind the Nürburgring Erlebniswelt project

Schumacher and Alonso are very similar in that they are unique. They were the first of their nation to become champions in their sport, and obviously with their success came the additional popularity and attention of their sport. As time goes on popularity and attention will dwindle. I'm sure Germany and Spain still love F1 and their drivers, but there isn't anything unique about Vettel and Alonso winning, or even competing at the front anymore.

Sorry to quote from a few days back, but the threads moved quicker than I have over the past few days. Part of the reason I don't concern myself overly with the politics of the sport as I feel there's nothing I can do about it. If the sport canabalises itself, so be it.

I'm confused though - if HRT were liquidated and missed the November entry deadline, how can there be an entry to buy? Aren't these guys just buying the cars and assets the way that Slovak/Serb mafia guy did with Toyota and "Phoenix" did with Prost? Those two were told in no uncertain terms where to stick their "entry" - what's different here?
