The problem now is that every minute of a driver's time is managed by the team - they have to go from A to B to C whatever...

As with everything, there are downsides and limits that are crossed, of course :p

Going back to the Di Grassi driver eye video/discussion. Hamilton was given a camera by the BBC in 2011 & said this was his drivers eye view:

Image

There's also the old Champcar Visor-Cam which was often located at the same level as the drivers eye:

Force India potentially up the creek. Even worse is that it seems Briatore's name is getting bandied about. Eugh.

Motorsport.com wrote:
Jan.18 (GMM) Force India "is in crisis" and it is possible the Silverstone based team "could collapse".
That is the claim of the Italiaracing magazine, who correctly reported some years ago that Pirelli would become the sport's new tyre supplier.

Now, the Italian publication is reporting from sources that Vijay Mallya - Force India's embattled owner who has lost his billionaire status - is experiencing "severe economic difficulties with his companies". Mallya's troubles with Kingfisher, his grounded Indian airline, are well known, but the 57-year-old also controls United Breweries, and F1 team Force India. Italiaracing claims that, in recent days, F1 chief executive Bernie Ecclestone has "activated a plan to save the (Force India) team."

The sources mentioned the possibility of a return to F1 for Colin Kolles, the team boss who in the wake of the Silverstone based team Jordan's demise some years ago led the subsequent incarnations Spyker and Midland, and finally Force India.
As head of HRT, Kolles left F1 at the end of 2011, a year before the Spanish team's collapse under new management.
Italiaracing also mentioned the former Renault chief and well-known Ecclestone ally Flavio Briatore, who has been out of F1 since the 'crashgate' scandal.

Briatore and Kolles, LMAO let's just associate two of the worst people of the last decade with the team .

What's next, Albers?

Kolles has successfully killed off 2 teams already. Third time's the charm, eh?

It's GMM news, so I'd take it with a pinch of salt.

It does seem odd that di Resta has yet to be officially confirmed, but he's had a seat fitting. Mallya's had problems but Force India should be fine.

Oh, and Kolles is actually a bloody good man. He gets put down, but he pretty much single handedly made sure HRT made the start of 2010.

Didn't FI recently get a financial boost though?

"We had a board meeting in India after the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix and the board has approved a £50 million capital investment programme for the team. We are going to invest heavily in new technology and give more tools to our design team to try and move further up the grid"

So it's only an internal boost. Unless this was a way of pumping money into the team before things got desperate? I think there'd be someone interested as Force India is a good team, not like HRT.

Scarbs has tweeted to say it's a few teams in financial troubles. Possibly Marussia?

First I read that FI is in financial problems, a few weeks later they wanted to invest millions extra in the team and now this again. I hope they sort it out, they've become a pretty cool team in my opinion.

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.

Oh you know he's just toying. That was said to piss Caterham and Marussia off and encourage them to improve. He wants 11 teams because it never allows the 10th placed team to relax, safe in the knowledge of financial security.

However, it might bring the ego-centric Scot down a few notches.

There was a good article in Autosport this week about HRT and Kolles role, it kind of changed my opinion of him.

Yeah I just read that, it was a good one. Kolles was tea principal of Jordan/Midland in 05/06 wasn't he? If people are blaming him for that, it's pretty naive because it was that Russian bloke who didn't pump money into the team.

Williams new car will miss the first test though.

Force India driver announcement won't happen at the launch, will probably happen before the first test and they probably won't use Jerez for a shootout.

Now, with all of the news between 1st and 5th Feb, I think they'll want to announce their driver at a different time.

Two ifs, but if they do go under and Hulkenberg hadn't buggered up that overtake in Brazil, they could very well have won their last race.
