My first F1 race was the 1992 British Grand Prix when I went there to see Mansell and co. The first race I watched on TV was probably the German GP although I can't remember it but I do remember Patrese's spin at the Hungarian GP.

It must have been 2008 Australia. I don't remember much about the race but I do remember learning a lot about the sport and it's history in that season from Nea who introduced me to the sport.

My first full race i saw on tv was melbourne 1996 with the brundle crash. I loved those years (96-00)

My first f1 race i visited (and most likely the last) was hockenheim 2006. It was fun, but far too expensive

When I was 10, I stumbled upon Portugal 1996, but I saw only the rankings at the end of the race lol. I saw that Villeneuve guy, and said "Villeneuve, he must be from Québec, I'll try and watch more races soon !" But the european season was over, so my first real race was Australia 1997, but all I remember from that race is from highlights I watched a few years ago only :p

I honestly can't remember the first full race I saw. My dad used to stick on the F1 and watch it with me every Sunday. I remember the start crashes at Austria in 87, Senna crashing out at Monaco in 88, Berger crashing at Imola in 89.

At the age of 4 apparently I could name all the regular drivers and recognise their helmet designs.

With every passing year I wish the racing would return to how it was in the 80s. The cars looked properly beautiful and I loved that there were cars that all sounded different. I still love F1 but it's not the same sport as it was when I first started watching it.

The first race I remember seeing any of was Portugal '91 but I'm pretty sure I'd seen F1 before that, just can't remember it. I didn't really start following the sport properly until about 1997 and I didn't watch every race of a season until 2010.

I remember as a kid playing Grand Prix 1, and most weekends I would complete a full race distance driving with a mouse, looking back I realised I had basically every driver aid on  then in early 2003 I remember seeing the launch of the new Jaguar F1 car and thinking how awesome it looked, I then went to see if I could get Grand Prix 1 working again, but I couldn't so I bought F1 2002 and played it quite a lot, I then happened to see highlights for the 2003 Brazilian Grand Prix which had just occured and I knew all the drivers and teams etc from F1 2002, so I checked when the next race was and it was the San Marino Grand Prix and thankfully it was during the school holidays so staying up to 2:00am on a monday morning wasn't an issue... so Imola 2003 was my first race I watched live, I remember Michael and Ralf starting 1st and 2nd even though their mother had died the night before, Michael went on to win the race and I've been a fan of his ever since.

Just as Juihi I played a lot of Grand Prix (2 in my case). Always with joystick. I played that game so much until it broke (replays became what we now have as flashbacks, you could control the car sometimes which would results in a wreck :P). I remember my father telling me that I watched F1 with him, but the earliest memory I have is the Burti crash in Hockenheim 2000 I think. After that my father stopped watching, and so me too. 2005 was my first full season and I haven't missed a race since :).

My parents have a photo of me watching a TV and the 1987 Australian GP was on! I was 6 at the time. But I can only remember watching snippets of the OZ GPS until 1991. I can still remember Murray Walkers "Where's Mansell" after his crash in 1991. But as being a young lad in Australia I couldn't watch ever race as they were shown at about midnight back then. For the next couple of years I watched the begining of the odd race if it was shown before 11 pm. My first die hard season where I watched and taped every race was 1994. Since then I have only missed 5 races live...3 of those being in the last year!

When I was 4 I was able to program my 24 hour VCR to tape 500cc races, and I knew every rider and number, I was able to pronounce names note even the commentators could get right (Capirossi, Cechinello, Criville).

Mother thought I was a genius baby

More likely it was a mental disorder.

Hey Scotty, I was in the era of the BETA MAX. We had a garage sale about 10 years ago clearing out junk, and low and behold the BETA MAX still worked!! I chucked in a couple of tapes (Sat down and watched Navy Seals all over again still kicks arse, followed by Rage when it was awsome). For the era the picture and sound quality were great! At the end of Young Guns 1 (fantastic movie) it cut to the 1987 Australian 500cc GP where Wayne Gardner won. Then it cut to the 1989 German F1 GP for about 10 laps then it cut to the 1990 Australian GP Chanel 9 pre race show for about 20 minutes, then cut to Rage, then it cut to the 1993 British 500cc race at Donington with Mick Doohan's bone head braking move. Then finished. It was one of those epic and expensive 4 hour tapes.

Either I stayed up late to get the German and British GPs or I also could program the beast. I can't remember though...

Anyone with a VCR or BETA MAX in my case, before this downloading age would probbaly attest to taping a race or a show, not having a spare tape, then taping over what was on the tape previously. Thats how you get a mish mash of a tape that if watched today is so random it is brilliant!

Unfortunately I missed most of the '90s but I'm only 24 so that's not really a surprise. I started watching because my dad did so and I think I have seen glimpses of races from '97. I started to watch frequently somewhere in '98 and became a real fan in '99.

And since then I've been waiting for a constructors championship for McLaren. :beard:

Melbourne 1999 was my first race and also Irvine's first win :)

I heard about the tight battle between Schumi and Hakkinen the year before and was expecting the same two protagonists for the title in 1999. Both Hakkinen and Schumacher failed to score points in the first race while de la Rosa finished 6th in the Arrows and scored a point on his debut :) Villeneuve and Hill were on the backfoot of their career while Frentzen and Ralf began the new season with a podium after both McLarens retired. Zanardi had a crash after going wide and Villeneuve had a scary rearwing failure.

I distinctively remember the two liveries on the BAR with 555 and Lucky Strike and I thought the Arrows was a pretty cool looking car with T-Minus on the sides ;) Takagi's green helmet went great with that car, you could spot him from a mile away ! :D

For a long time I watched the review of 1999 I had taped from Dutch TV every Fridaynight with music from Great Balls of Fire, Johnny B Good (matched perfect with Herbert's victory at Nurburgring) and at the end How Bizarre from OMC ;)

I feel the same. One of my favourite cars.

Very difficult to say. My father loved watching F1 particularly because of Senna and he induced me to watch it too. But I don't remember what race exactly...I only know I started watching F1 between 1991 and 1992. I remember watching live the Brazilian Grand Prix in 1991 and the Canadian Grand Prix from the same year. And lots of 1992 races. Impossible to say what was the very first one!

Some scattered footage here and then in 1995 and early 1996, but first complete races I watched live were:

Monaco 1996, followed shortly after by Barcelona. 'NUFF SAID

I have vague memories from the '94 season, but the first full race I saw was the 1995 Brazilian GP.

I have loads of VHS tapes from the '95 and '96 seasons, and those seasons and races were brilliant for me to watch. Damon Hill quickly became my hero :)

I vaguely remember watching one F1 race in 1997 -- I don't know what race it was and don't remember anything about it other than Jacques Villeneuve running well. The first F1 race I actually really sat down and watched was Spa 1998. Lucky me. :D I had a friend warn me I should watch it when FOX Sports Net reaired it later because it was a crazy race. I also then remember Hakkinen's spin at Monza the next race.

First race was either Europe 1985 or British 1986. I don't remember much about the race other than Mansell winning. The first race I properly remember was British 1987, the track invasion after the race and an amusing banner (I was 8 years old) that had a picture of a Lotus and someone taking a dump on it along with the tagline "Shit on Senna".
