Well at least Interlagos should present more competitive racing. I didn't even watch the Indian GP last year because of the low rating it got here and I was tired of seeing Vettel winning.

I've watched every race live since Germany 2009.

I think that's a damning statement about my social life.

There's also a lot of doubt that Perez was actually ill. Buxton said he looked pissed off, before adding that

"Saw Checo yesterday. For someone with a cold there was a distinct lack of a cough, runny nose, streaming eyes etc. Just looked annoyed."

Sorry for putting it like this but if a person bought that "ill" thing, then he believes in anything....

Firstly, it would be miraculous healing from Perez in a 2 and half hour space of time in order for him to be unfit for FP1 but ok for FP2. Secondly, this would need to be a big coincidence because the timing of it is just perfect as Perez is already leaving the team and Guttierez is most likely to drive for Sauber next year, so giving him some early preparation/test for next year is very convinient here. Thirdly, his face said everything during FP1.

Oh I know, but quoting it saved me from retyping an erm-what in reference to a bizarre sentance about the popularity of the Buddh circuit among F1 fans.

Sorry, for some reason I thought I had read something which had led me to suppose you were from London. ;)

Again, that's what I read from quite a lot people. I remember some saying this was by far the best Tilke track, for instance. But as I said in the original post, I'm not among the big fans of the circuit, either.

No, I'm not from London.

Regarding the circuit, I think it's good but... it feels too short. S1 is pretty pointless frankly, so the first forty seconds or so is crap.

Yeah see I don't think I've read many comments that agree with this. It's not a bad track by any means, but very popular among fans and the best Tilke track? Hardly.

What are you talking about? Don't you realise that almost everyone in England comes from London... Well that's how most people outside of UK assumes it to be (certainly here in USA).

phil should have done it, tbh. If I'm not mistaken, he's from London, so he's the one most appropriate in here to open the thread for the Indian GP.

I've read this several times and I've still got no idea what you mean

He meant London is full of Indians.

It's one of the things I love about London. 200+ languages spoken, etc.

I just accessed autosport forum and there is a guy there who have the same impression as me, regarding the praise for the circuit:

I haven't watched any coverage yet for this race weekend and can honestly say I have no memory of the track at all from last season. Even the track map doesn't help. All I can remember is how stunning the women looked.

I find it interesting to read about people's devotion to F1 waning as their lives move forwards and they discover other passions in life.

Personally I went through the same thing in the 00s, wondering why I was getting up in the wee small hours to watch a lot of ugly aero dependant cars with grooved tyres race around a track and occasionally switch places during refuelling stops.

But the past couple of years has really topped up my passion for the sport, so much so I'm creating podcasts and radio shows to discuss it with fellow fans, etc.

To those who are wondering about their commitment levels, don't worry.
Your passion will ebb and flow as the eras come and go, if there's something you don't like about the sport, just be patient and it usually changes every 10 years or so anyway.
I HATED Refuelling and the pitstop focus of F1 in the 00's, yet during that era I was also depressed because I just thought that WAS "the format", that's just how F1 was and I never thought they'd change it.
But then the sports circumstances changed and therefore they didn't fancy lugging all that fuel and equipment around the world and bam, away it went and the focus of the racing returned to being on the track, not the pit lane.

Fans today might get down about the Far Eastern tracks and state of the sport, but will they last forever?
No.
Will you like how the sport replaces them? Who knows, but F1 never stays stagnant for too long, it regenerates itself pretty quickly, so if you don't like what's going on now, be patient and maybe something will come along that you enjoy more.

I don't know codename. Maybe I guess it also might have something completely unrelated to F1, itself, on it.
Many of us who are on that phase of life in which you're trying to settle in a job career, or others forming family and etc, might feel a natural decrease in interest for other things which were majorly adored in childhood/teenage years.

I guess it will then come a phase(mid 30s) in which the interest will naturally grow again as those big things in life will, normally, be more kind of resolved.

All true, but of course if you're that passionate about something, no matter what is going on with your life, you'll find some time for it.

People are saying they watch less practice and qualifying and maybe even live races, but not that they're giving up watching the races completely.

Especially in the days of Iplayer/Ipad apps, TV Catchup , its easier to keep tabs with a sport than ever before.

Maybe they'll just be less posting on internet discussion forums, that's all :p
