Ok guys, Rubens Barrichello's career on IndyCar is already over.

Have no idea whether he's returning or not but he's just announced right now he'll make full season in Brazilian Stock Cars Series in 2013.

Before anyone complains because of a simple sentence, that was a very anticipated news since his decision to race on the last three races of Stock Car season. I haven't offended anybody because I said that, have I? Scotty, kals, you alright? No offence, but that was very anticipated, not my fault! :p

Not that I know anything about that series, but do the schedules clash? Could he do both?

2013 Schedule

March 3rd - Interlagos
March 17th - Curitiba
April 28th - Tarumã
May 19th - Salvador
June 2nd - Brasilia DF
June 16th - Cascavel
August 11th - Ribeirão Preto
September 1st - Brasilia DF
September 15th - Velopark
October 10th - Curitiba
November 10th - Goiania
December 15th - Interlagos

Looks a lot flexible to me! Now it's up for Rubens to make a decision like that. At least the 2013 Indy 500 he should try. Too early for Barrichello give up from IndyCars...and before trying Brazilian Stock Cars, in my opinion he should try NASCAR.

His sponsors decided to back out.

Although, someone as rich as he is could easily pay for a drive out of their own pocket.

I think he just felt he wasn't as fast as he used to be and it was the right time to go.

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.

I believe Barrichello just convinced himself he's already enough experienced (not to say old) in his life to keep fighting with sponsors, trying to convince people and disputing seats in teams where there's no sure If results will come or not...he's got a wife and two kids. And besides, I suspect he's tired of living in other countries, I think he wants to comeback Brazil celebrating his life/history and chill together people he knows.

Who knows he's trying other Indy 500 or some endurance race during the year.

The people in charge of IndyCar have reloaded the pistol and are continuing to aim at their feet.

It's just sad. It's like they're actively trying to destroy the series.

They have a good year, very good racing and an American champion. But instead of trying to grow and beat NASCAR, they're imploding yet again.

This always happens in AOWR :(

The only plausible reason for all the axing lately is that there's some sort of a deal going on to make IndyCar look bad so it can be sold for less and then be "saved" by Tony George Fan Club.

There's been some suggestions that he was axed because he supported Bernard. Whatever the reason, it was a fucking stupid move.

Indycar is literally in the process of committing suicide. Hopefully someone comes & tries to fix it up, but I'm not confident. We might be left with Indy and nothing else at the end of it all if it keeps going like this.

Exactly, and that's the problem. The people in charge are getting rid of the good people, not the bad people. Which is not good for the business that is Indycar, whatever way you look at it.

I've watched a series I loved wither and die before my eyes before....

Feels like the same thing is happening again.

It reminds me of Champcar in 2006. With AJ in the Forsythe challenging the big bad Newman Haas guys, as well as PT playing the bad guy in his Hockey mask and crashing into anyone he could and wrestling with them afterwards, it really felt like there was some momentum building up behind the series.

Then 2007 happened and the whole thing fell apart....

Getting mad deja vu here....

No! Now look mournful and say how you're winning the pity party by being just that little bit more sad than the rest of us...

How dare you remind me of 2006 ChampCar!

I'm gonna go drink heavily now.

Heh, I never thought I'd miss the days of 2005/2006 Champ Car.

Indy Car needs to go to the Denver Champ Car track. That was one of the best street circuits Champ Car had.

Mile wide turn... :)

Smart decision of them to change the start/finish line to just after that turn in the hope that there'd be a last corner pass.
Probably paid off for them in 2006 too :p

Kudos too to Bridgestone for bringing such shit red tyres that everyone had to run for a stint that year.
We've learnt the term "off the cliff" when it came to the tyres from Formula 1 but in 2006 the Bridgestone reds would go so far off the cliff they were in the ocean!
I'm pretty sure everyone passed everyone else a couple of times in that race, it was brilliant. Felt like a wet race but in the dry :)
