Gordon also said he spun because of oil, and the cameras were rightfully pointed right at the lead battle the entire last lap or so.

He had contact with the 17 that got him out of shape out of the groove.

Ah, I didn't see that replay then.

Still is possible that there were others having issues that we just didn't see while Kes and Ambrose were going at it.

Like I said, I'm not incredibly torn about it. Still lead to an amazing display of skill for the win by both drivers to run hard at each other while battling a tough track condition.

Exactly. It was an exciting finish where we saw 2 drivers push each other to the edge with mutual respect. No dumping the other. Something that's rare these days.

David Gilliland was fastest on track on the final lap at 1:14, which says quite much of how slippery it must have been.

Think for a second if this was FIA sanctioned of all the penalty's that would have occurred for leaving the track and gaining positions.

So Ambrose's finishes at the glen are 3-2-3-1-1... Which is an average finish of 2.0... Which is, by all means, a legal raping.

Debbie Downer syndrome goin on here. It was a great, hard racing, exciting last lap. Let's all enjoy that... I mean Michigan is next week guys....

That and the cars behind had the benefit of their spotters yelling over the radio "oil out turn 1, be very careful" etc

The first 3 were used as more of a marker for the cars behind in that regard.

But oh well, that kinda thing happens occasionally....they'll deal.

17 and 24 never touched.

It sounds like it there was oil, but you couldn't really see it?

I didn't see the race but I saw the finish on youtube. That was one of the most exciting last laps I've seen in a while. I can't fault either Kyle Busch or Brad Keselowski for what happened on the last lap. I think it was a racing incident. I think Keselowski had a head of steam and Kyle was trying to protect the lead on the last lap. The battle between Keselowski and Ambrose on the last lap was very entertaining because both of them were going balls-out in every corner and just hoping their cars would stay straight. Those two gave it everything they had and it was fun to watch.

On a unrelated note, I found it funny during the pre race show drivers where being interviewed while drinking out of Monster, Coke, etc... branded bottles that here obviously filled with water.

They show us the guy that will wear the helmet can for BK Racing, actually drinking a can of Dr Pepper.

I can't decide if that final lap was awesome, or just stupid. Stupidly awesome?

Regardless of why, that was the single best lap of racing this whole year... Probably the last 2 or 3 years.

The only thing that's bad with RC's are the length of the cautions... I wish there was a way to make them quicker, or have quickies, or something. Not much they can do, however.

I like 'em as they are, anyway!

Also, who is the 60 paying homage to at Bristol? Gonna have to check that out...

*EDIT*

So Roush won't have Edwards in the car because it's "We Back Pat" (Summit). Really? Am I missing something?

The reason why Trevor Bayne is in the #60 car is that he's from Knoxville, Tennessee, which is the home of the University of Tennessee, where Pat Summit had a legendary career coaching the University of Tennessee's Women's Basketball team. It's only fitting that Bayne is driving a car representing what is a big part of his hometown.

Race was good, I don't see why oil on the track would merit caution on a road course, normally an oil flag is shown.

Oil flag? This is the series that waves blue flags for local yellows.

For the record, I thought the finish was awesome.

Yeah, I mean they throw full course cautions for a roll bar on the track that's off the groove. Why would you expect them to throw a red and yellow striped flag?
