So with the last 2 weekends and today it's proven that the McLaren is total rubbish at the moment. Hot, cold, dry, wet - doesn't matter, they are not at the top. I can not imagine that they gambled with a dry setup.

Great pole by Alonso.

Hearing from both of the McLaren drivers it sounds like they've made a step forward since Silverstone but they were unfortunate in Q3. I think Jenson would have been a lot more downbeat had they not had a good car in the dry.

McLaren stayed on those wets too long. They should have changed earlier like Alonso did.

Amazing qualifying. Hulkenberg very fast in the wet as he usually is. Nice to see Schumacher performing so well too, 3rd in the grid tomorrow after Webber 5 places penalty. Just a shame that Alonso did the pole again.

You don't like Alonso, don't you?

I don't. Alonso is a great driver, he has amazing skills, but his attitude has become too arrogant over the years, I used to like him a long time ago, back in 2003, but he started showing his real face when Trulli was beating him in Renault and he couldn't deal with that and together with Briatore found a way to kick Trulli out of Renault. Alonso is like a spoiled child, he wants everything to be his way, he wants the team to do everything in his favour, he tried that at McLaren and failed big time. At Renault again, all the manipulation involving Piquet's crash at Singapore, it was ridiculous for Alonso to be involved in such thing, like I said, he is a great driver, he don't need to cheat, but he did cheated. And as if its not enough, he complains about everything. I remember when Petrov hold him for the whole race in Abu Dhabi and he was complaining about and cursing Petrov. Petrov was doing his race, they were fighting for a position, he was not a lapped car, he didn't had to let anyone pass. But like I said, Alonso is like a spoiled child. But I know how to separate things, Alonso is a great driver, talented and complete, he can do races that nobody could expect. But his attitude destroys everything and I think much of that he "learned" from his relation with Briatore.

Massa was horrible again today. Not only was he horribly slow, he nearly took his teammate out as well at a crucial stage.

His position is becoming untenable.

The only reason Massa is still driving the 2nd car of Ferrari is cause the team has nobody with enough experience with the car to replace him, otherwise he would be out for a long time already. His performance reminds a lot of Capelli's poor performance in 1992.

yes, but no.

Capelli performed poorly but his teammate didn't shine either. Also, I don't buy the 'nobody with enough experience' talk. If they bring in a new driver now he has already 10 races to get adjusted to a new environment in time for 2013. Sutil wouldn't be a bad choice.

Sure, in 1992 Ferrari had one of its worst years, Alesi was able to grab a couple of podiums thanks to his skills, but what I mean is that both Capelli in 1992 and Massa right now was and are very distant from what a Ferrari driver should be. About the experience, I allways remember what happened in 2009, Badoer and Fisichella both failed when they replaced Massa they didn't scored a single point and Fisichella got fantastic results for FI in Belgium. It's really complicated for a team to replace a driver with the season still going on. It would only work if Ferrari were preparing someone for 2013, but not even them know what will be for 2013, so I believe for them its better to keep Massa even with such poor performances.

They're probably burnt by how badly the second drivers went in 2009 to ever try that again.

Fishchella went from almost winning Spa to struggling like hell for the rest of the year, after that they probably thought its best to maintain the momentum and only change drivers at seasons end.

This is exactly what I pointed in my last post in the last page. Fisichella did an amazing race at Spa, and wasn't able to score a single point and even Badoer who was Ferrari's test driver back there wasn't able to do anything good. So they really have a point on keeping Massa, even though he's doing so badly this season.

Yeah, it seems the spot just after the hairpin, back there it was a bit different from today, instead of just the straight there was a high speed "s"

are they trying to make some sort of cheap reference there, or is just my mind?

Don't know how it was on tv but that was an awesome qualy! Hopefully the race will be the same, likely to stay bone dry the whole day.
