It was the first round of the British Superbike season, either 2011 or 2010.

Nice airbourne shot of Silverstone taken last weekend.

Image

The weather looks deceivingly sunny, who knows if it will be like this.

F1.com says rain for all 3 days.

It won't be. It's going to piss it down.

If you see a person drenched in mud in the background on BBC/Sky/whatever channel, it'll be sodding me.

edit: Maybe not...

Trucks have raced at Brands Hatch in snow. British F3 had to cancel a race at Oulton Park 1 or 2 years ago due to snow. If the British GP had stayed with the Easter date it had back in 2000 for enough years it might have seen snow too.

People who get excited for historic racing, especially as support events, usually haven't seen historic racing. Old men with lots of money driving everywhere at half throttle. Usually 1 decent driver (at Le Mans it was usually Darren Turner in a Jaguar) who knows what he's doing and will drive off into the distance. Don't get your hopes up for historic racing - it rarely delivers.

Darren Turner ... decent driver who knows what he's doing? Other than that, I essentially agree - Goodwood Revival aside ... it's nice to see the old cars, but it's often best to see them in the paddock where you get all the magic without the slight disappointment of them not being driven in anger ...

Ever watched the Le Mans Historics? Until this year Turner usually rocked up in a Jaguar and won by over a minute in a 1 hour race. It wasn't a race. Even the sounds are rubbish because most of the drivers don't even get to top gear in them, which shows how bad it can be.

Yea, those darn Japanese fans who stay in the grandstands long after the race has finished to watch the teams pack up, they aren't true fans!

Still better that than having these cars sit in showrooms and museums all year not being raced.
Or even worse, some rich guys garage where the public is never gonna see them.

Mind you, looking at the huge shunt in the historics race this year, that's debatable I guess, but those are the risks you take.

The rain will probably make it horrible for anyone at the track this weekend, but sods law will ensure it just about stays away for the race.
Might get a wet/dry support race though, the best kind of wet racing.
Full wet, meh. Full dry will be good, wet/dry will be best race of the year, yeah including Valencia ;)

UK: Showery set-up Fri-Sun, albeit w some dry & bright phases likely each day in which fairly warm (18-20C); light winds #F1 Showers more widespread in afternoons Sat-Sun; slow-moving, heavy & poss thundery in places. A wet-dry lottery #F1

well, given that in anything exceeding light rain, F1 will not drive, that's probably a good thing

Looking at this summer in England, and as a tennis fan looking at the every day rain at Wimbledon,it would be a miracle to stay out from rain this weekend.

Miracles do happen! Especially when it comes to the combination of F1+rain...

Champinship table as it would like if we were using 10-6-4-3-2-1...

Drivers Championship

01 - Fernando ALONSO - 34 Pts
02 - Sebastian VETTEL - 25 Pts
03 - Mark WEBBER - 25 Pts
04 - Lewis HAMILTON - 24 Pts
05 - Nico ROSBERG - 20 Pts
06 - Kimi RAIKKONEN - 18 Pts
07 - Jenson BUTTON - 16 Pts
08 - Romain GROSJEAN - 14 Pts
09 - Pastor MALDONADO - 10 Pts
10 - Sergio PEREZ - 10 Pts
11 - Michael SCHUMACHER - 04 Pts
12 - Kamui KOBAYASHI - 03 Pts
13 - Nico HULKENBERG - 02 Pts
14 - Paul DI RESTA - 01 Pt
15 - Bruno SENNA - 01 Pt
16 - Felipe MASSA - 01 Pt

Constructors Championship

01 - Red Bull - 50 Pts
02 - McLaren - 40 Pts
03 - Ferrari - 35 Pts
04 - Lotus - 32 Pts
05 - Mercedes - 24 Pts
06 - Sauber - 13 Pts
07 - Williams - 11 Pts
08 - Force India - 03 Pts

This system is very good to show how bad Massa's performance is if you compare with Alonso, while the spanish leads the table, Massa would have only a single point, a Ferrari driver with just a single point.
