could be quite good actually. I like the industrial setting. Reminds me of Detroit in the 80s (without the awesome Renaissance Center though :( ). Would be great to have that old downtown detroit circuit still. Shame about all the murders and stabbings though.

Valencia is one of the circuits where DRS didn't work last year so I doubt it will be effective this year.

Hamilton will win, but it will be close with Alonso and Vettel I believe.

Besides: I'm still waiting for the huge pile up when someone wrecks in that last sequence of fast corners.

Hoping for winner number 8, I'd like to see a Lotus win. Hopefully they've lengthened the first DRS zone, if so we could get a decent race. Last year the zone started almost halfway on the straigth, it needs to start right after they come of that swing bridge.

Lotus only operates well in hot conditions. That's exactly what they are forecasting for this weekend.

Raikkonen can win it if he qualifies decently, but Romain is surely the rising star.

well, I believe because it's the same shit as Abu Dhabi. Long straights but no fast corners.

Like Martin Brundle always says about these types of corners: the car ahead is always on the throttle before you can be, so it will always run away.

After the matches with the professionals, the journalists and fans attending the event will have the opportunity to team up with Pedro de la Rosa and Dani Clos and play a couple of points with the Spanish Formula 1 drivers.

To round things off, once the games are done with, the attending media will have an opportunity to speak with the drivers in a relaxed environment before the European Grand Prix officially gets underway.

When: Thursday the 21st of June – 10.30h.
Where: Clock tower esplanade. T Superyacht terminal at the Port of Valencia

Access is free for all media with an FIA press accreditation, both permanent and particular for this event. If you still don’t have your accreditation, you will be able to access through the main gate D (Juan Verdeguer Street) showing this invitation at the door.

I really hope there's something like this at Silverstone.

Our MTV3 commentator team loses Mika Salo who is is the driver steward for the race.

I'm honestly expecting better race than Monaco/Montreal. Even by statistics the race can't be dull for the 5th consecutive time, can it? Unless I jinxed it just now.

what was dull about Canada? It was a proper race without the safety car having to take care of the artificial spectacle we have come used to.

The FIA has confirmed to organisers of the European Grand Prix that the sole DRS zone for this weekend's race will be located on the back stretch, beginning after the iconic swing bridge. This means that the second zone towards the Turn 17 hairpin has been removed.

Should a car be close enough to that in front when coming off the bridge, DRS will be available – from Lap 3 after the start or a restart – through the left-handed Turn 11. This allows drivers the possibility of increased speed along the back stretch of the port and an ideal passing opportunity under braking for Turn 12, where Fernando Alonso and Mark Webber battled last year.

More action should be expected at Turn 12 this season, as in theory overtaking opportunities have been reduced. Furthermore, F1 tyre supplier Pirelli is not expecting huge surprises in the race, placing extra emphasis on qualifying performances.

iconic?

Why only one DRS zone? It's hardly like last years race was an overtaking fest.

I have only one opinion about Valencia street course:

Agreed! I usually like street tracks a lot, but this one is just painfull, one of the worst circuits F1 ever been to, only Abu Dhabi can be worse.

McLaren's press release was inadvertently funny.

"Car set-up is a delicate balance between low-speed grip and traction through the track’s tortuous 25 corners, while maintaining good straight-line speed"

The only interesting thing about the circuit is the narrow pitlane which it has provided more drama than on the circuit.

I dunno, I'm sure the 2010 weekend was pretty action packed, with gp2 and F1 flips and gp3 start pile up.

I actually didn't mind that race, you had Kobayashi on a different strategy to the rest and he was making a lot of wild passes.
IIRC I think I only noticed that through the on-board feed and it didn't make the main coverage.

Anyway, lets hope Pirelli realise how shit this race can be and give us tyres that drop off pretty quickly so it's not a one or two stop race that doesn't leave any room for wild strategies.

Yeah counting on the tyres to spice things up a bit. The thing I dislike about this track is just how it lacks any kind of atmosphere (at least from the tv perspective), just boring. Anyway here's hoping to something spicing it up, hopefully a close battle near the front.

something similar is happening like last year. In the beginning the tyres made for an absolute wow-fest. Now that we are some races in they seem to be more 'boring' and predictable. Certainly with the 'supersoft' lasting for 40 laps I don't expect anything spectacular anymore tyres-wise.
