Senna did well so far, He was only bad in Spain. Maybe without his mistake in qualifying he would have started higher and done better, but so far no reason to even think about dumping him

I believe they weren't allowed to use it in the tunnel last year, don't think they will be now. I also red somewhere that they put the barrier a lot further towards Tabac this year, the one Perez crashed into.

I didn't notice it was further back than last year when I was there a couple weeks ago (pictures coming up!!!)

Honestly, even 10-15 meters back will still look horrifyingly close if you ask me.

When I think about it again, that (my own post) would be very strange. Would be a dangerous spot when they exit the chicane after the tunnel. Guess we'll see it in little more than one week.

So as promised, here are the pictures of my short trip to Monaco two weeks ago. The track was almost completed, except for some grandstands and the swimming pool chicanes. I could walk freely in the pits and the drivers briefing rooms :D

It's really strange to see the city in its everyday setting: everyday cars driving down the track, restaurant tables on the racing line... I can hardly imagine what it would be like to reach F1 speeds given how little space there is. Even the run-off areas are tiny.

The weather was awful, heavy rain all day long. I was soaked. Let's hope for a similar treat to the drivers next race!! ;)

Enjoy :)

I stood right where where the Gods have been roaring for decades past. I bowed to the memories whispered by every corner and every curb.

My life is now complete. :flag:

Fantastic pictures! I'm curious, did you notice a big bump, exiting the tunnel? The bump that caused all the crashes last year. Or did they remove it after last year?

I was trying for FR3.5 accreditation but left it a bit late + hotels = pricey!

Maybe next year + nice pics!

I think they have fixed it. There was a article about it like a few weeks ago how Monaco has made a few safety changes for this year.

Video from the Historique race

[youtubeidiot]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NF9WowqwB2w[/youtubeidiot]

You can see:
- Pit exit looks a bit clearer
- New big building on the left exiting the tunnel
- Bump taken out
- Barrier moved back at the chicane

That building at the exit of the tunnel is gonna ruin one of my favourite camera angles: The one that points to the tunnel exit and shows the cars shooting out of the tunnel.

I totally forgot how little space there is in the tunnel.

I hate that camera angle. For many years they used that angle to show the cars from the exit of the tunnel to the final corner, basically covering half the track with only 1 camera. In recent years they added some camera's to the exit of the tunnel, but mostly use them for slow motion replays only. I really can't love the Monaco GP because of the shitty TV coverage, I loved it in the F1 Digital days from 1998 to 2002, but after that it's mostly frustrating to watch this GP because of the incompetent French host broadcaster (which seems to be a trend in France, Pau was also terrible)

I don't remember that angle recently. I'm sure they pan from the tunnel, switch to one that is on the outside of Tabac, then one at the Piscine. There's several they use now.

The usual way how the host broascaster covers the tunnel and exit is a flick-flack camera in the tunnel, a higher camera that covers the exit of the tunnel as well at the rundown to the chinace. Then it cuts to a lower angle on the outside of the chicane (you can actually time the cuts as these are always the same). This is the way the TV director did it for many years will do it for many years to come.
A shame really as Monaco offers the best possible pictures and it should a dream for a broadcaster to cover it with spectacular camera shots and so on. Sure FOM would do a magnificent job there but it won't happen unfortunately.

Well there's several shots that we get only in the Race Edits (as usual), it'd be awesome if they could be opened up on a race control for viewers.
