Talladega wasn't able to fill its crash quota for the weekend (according to Tony Stewart). Will the Cup boys improve that quotient at the Lady in Black? Will we see another upset winner? Will somebody punch someone? Or will we needlessly reflect on how fucking delicious Bojangles chicken is?

Find out in the Bojangles Southern 500!

There's one in Valdosta. It's good, but not something I'd go back to again and again.

Darlington is one track where someone could pull a Ned Jarrett and win by 14 laps and I still wouldnt care cuz its so amazing just to watch em go around that place.

FTFY.

Worth the price of admission alone in my book.

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.

She'll go through at least one car before the race.

I'm sure I made a post on here about how I would actually like to see her succeed in NASCAR. I'd like to retract that statement. Maybe she was like this in IndyCar too, but I never followed it too much. She really is completely self centered on the race track. She hasn't run more than a single full year and she acts like she deserves the respect of a 20 year veteran. Seems she's always running into somebody that rubbed her the wrong way, Sam Hornish Jr. being just the latest example. She keeps driving like that she'll just end up with more wrecked race cars. And I won't feel bad at all.

Believe me when I say this: she's just as bad in IndyCar.

She was always having hissy fits in Indycar. Stomping away from her car after running out of fuel, the altercation with Milka Duno and grabbing Wheldon because he wasn't having any of her whinging.

She better watch it with Hornish. His dad seems pretty old school. I remember him getting in a rumble in the pits at the glen a few years ago. I bet he has no problem striking a woman.

While I'll agree that she gets more attention than she really deserves, to her credit, she has run well and learned a ton. People with a Twitter, Facebook or hell, even a TBK account seem to know the ins-and-outs of racing more than actual drivers these days (*seem to*, not *actually do*), all from the comfort of their own living rooms.

Social media has given a "voice" to everyone, and an alley for everyone to bitch and pretend like they know what they're talking about. That, more than Danica's mere presence, more than terrible TV coverage, more than the Chase, more than the new cars (and I could go on) is what is wrong with not only the sport, but the world.

*Deep thoughts... by Jack Handey.*

On that note, I'll actually compare her to Tony Stewart (gasp!). If a driver as feisty as Tony came around today, the exact way he came into the sport (because let's face it, he was pretty cocky from the get-go), people would tear him a new one, too. Shame on Danica for getting riled up like she does. Tony even wrecked Dale Jr. at Pikes Peak by driving in over his head (that would have been... '98?).

For goodness sake, she can't do that! How dare she emulate her car owner? :(

I personally think people overreact to Danica. Too many "OMG SHE DID THAT!?"... I mean Tony bitch slapped Vickers after a race on top of countless other things... I don't care 2 shits about what she does or how she acts. If I did, I'd watch wrestling.

Smarks: isn't exclusive for pro wrestling anymore.

If she wanted to emulate T-Stew, she could try winning something first. Just a thought.

If a driver has talent, then people will tend to overlook less palatable aspects of that driver's character. This goes for all forms of motorsport, and indeed all sport in general. If a competitor doesn't have a great deal of talent (Danica, for the record, is getting her arse handed to her by her much younger and much less experienced team-mate), then people will pick up on that competitor's character instead, especially if that competitor is the centrepiece of every broadcast.

Cole Whitt is indeed getting less attention than Danica, and that's my only rub against her (heheheh oh the juvenile comments I could make). My only serious beef with Danica is that she is getting far too much attention than anyone else finishing in the 10th-to-20th range. That isn't to say she hasn't made progress.

IMO, back in the day, Tony may have won a ton of stuff before coming to NASCAR, but so had countless others at that point. To make it into the top levels of the sport, they had to. Once they got into the sport, it was a clean slate. "You're here, now prove yourself in a lower-level series." Tony rubbed people the wrong way in his Busch days, too.

Though Danica didn't get the results in IndyCar, she ran well. She's learning, she's improving, and though I don't completely agree with what she did at Talladega (though I did find it entertaining), it's all part of the process. If she ends up driving and not making any strides and taking up a good ride, fine, I'll eat my words, but she's still doing a good job, and getting an unreasonable amount of flack from people who think they know better.

I guess my bottom line is that one of my biggest pet peeves is people calling shots from the couch, when they have only what they observe on TV as reference. *shrugs* I may not know, but I don't pretend to know, either.

Expert or no expert, there are some places where you just don't intentionally wreck somebody. Talladega is one of them. Even more so when you've just seen a fellow driver cut out of their car and taken away on a stretcher.

She's not the first to do it, neither will she be the last. If anything, with the safety of these cars and SAFER barriers, it's gotten everyone feeling they're invincible... again, not sure why she's being singled out.

Not that safety's a *bad* thing, mind you, but it has somewhat created a new breed of driver. Everyone coming through the ranks is a Kyle Busch wannabe. "I can drive better than you, drive over the edge and get away with it", that kind of thing. James Buescher is guilty of it, as are a few others. If you came in racing like that 20-30 years ago, your career would be over before you knew it - or even better, had the piss pounded out of you, just to make you learn a lesson.

Back to stuff that matters... heheh

Ryan Blaney 14th in first practice at Darlington. Can't wait to see what he can do at this beast of a track!
