The only thing I blame Sato for is not turning to the right and just taking out Dario. THAT would be like little Al and Emmo.. Contact puttng Dario to the fence and Sato winning under yellow instead of spinning himself out. Then we'd see if they really wanted him to win or not. Think Dario would have got out and gave the thumbs up to Sato?

Pretty much everyone wanted Sato to win. I haven't even seen a Dario fan saying they didn't want Sato to win. Just some people are looking for excuses rather than admitting Sato did what Sato does.

In this scenario, Sato did what a racing driver should do. Why settle for second place. I'm just glad he (or anyone else) didn't get hurt.

Still, it was a classic race. This season is turning out to be very great. Long Beach was a classic as well.

If only we had Cleveland.

I'm not saying he shouldn't have went for the move, I'm saying he did what he always does - goes from hero to zero. He made the same move on Dixon and made it stick, then spun the next time he tried it. I love Sato, he's awesome to watch and is brilliant entertainment, but this is what he's done his entire career, and what he's always going to do. Everyone can sit and blame Dario for blocking, but he also did what every other driver would do on the last lap of the Indy 500.

Looking at the quality of the racing though, I hope the cars run like that at Texas and Fontana

It seems a bit handford tbh, huge slipstreams but no pack.
Which, as someone pointed out before, is just as artificial but a hell of a lot better than running around in one big pack being unable to pass, especially when there's a crash...

Indy is always unique so there's no sure way of knowing yet but the signs look a bit better than they did before...

Agreed. The first thing I thought of was the CART races with the Handford device. It's annoying in a way that it sort of artificially bunches the field (it's pretty much impossible for the leader to drive away from anyone because the slipstream is so strong), but it's also entertaining and still puts things in the driver's hands way more than being forced side by side for extended periods of time unable to complete a pass like we had before.

I don't know about that, the only thing I think is most surprising is that Dario got away with it, I expected Dixon to emerge from a pile of debris that formerly was the top 2 once the accident started happening.

Maybe it points to these cars being a hell of a lot more stable than 1989 but still, Dario is amazingly lucky he wasn't nudged into a spin too!

Takes Dario out, Dixon spins in sympathy and TK goes on to take the win. Now that would have been perfect.

Sad. I remember when ESPN2 used to broadcast the banquet.

I think it's fair to say the crowd wanted Sato to win, even though some people seem to have a hard time believing that.

Some media were raving at how Dario was almost last after the hit in the pit-lane and he got back to win the race. Yeah, he got to the top during the whole race. But Oriol lost a lap early, didn't get it back until 30 laps to go and then sliced through from 20th to 4th in about 20 green-flag laps. Man, I really thought he'd win it at that rate.

I didn't like the end result because... Dario is a talented guy, but he does get a number of lucky breaks. It's amazing that he didn't get collected by Sato. The contact in the pit-lane could've damaged his car like Conway's and it didn't... He's got 4 titles and 3 Indy 500s. Credit to him, but luck certainly smiles more on his side than on Kanaan's, for example.

The problem with Dario is his damn wife... And the networks incessant desire to hear whatever drivel comes out of her mouth. Her opinion on anything to do with the race or the team is completely irrelevant.

The race was quite good though. Didn't particularly want to see Takuma or Dario or Dixon win. Wanted to see Tony or Marco win but that's not the way the cards fell.

Everything that brings publicity of any kind to the series is good. Even Mrs. Judd.

That'd be awesome as hell if Kanaan won. He's kind of like the Lloyd Ruby of today, I guess, what with the luck he's had at Indianapolis over the years.

Take a look at this video for 60 seconds, starting from 6:14 and tell me if you still stand behind those words.

I dare you.

She was also very exited when Conway went in the fences at 2010.

They really need to stop interviewing her. I'm sure she's a nice person, but she brings nothing of worth to the interviews at all. It reminds me of when F1 directors would always show Mika Hakkinens wife, or Nicole when Lewis did something. Stop it! Nobody cares!
