That's doubtful.

That's a big if too, if what I've seen is anything to go by.

He died by hitting his head on the pole. How is it doubtful? Everyone else in the crash was capable of walking away.

It's doubtful, because Dan hit the fencing in the worst possible angle in very high speed, eventhough it was the pole that did most of the damage, it was still a very big impact.

Because having poles on the back of the fence didn't save Tony Renna, Hitoshi Ogawa or Pete Rogers to name but a few.

If you think simply moving the pole back 3 inches would have saved Dan's life you're either severely deluded or have absolutely no idea of the forces involved in an impact like that. Fences do flex you know. Even Indycar concluded had the pole been on the back of the fence, it would have been unlikely to have changed the outcome (due to the aforementioned flexing of the fence).

It's been said before but these cars would look so much better if the sidepods were normalized, rollhoop instead of airbox thing, no rear tire guards, and less downforce on the wings (smaller endplates especially).

Personally I think all they need to do is flatten and make a bit longer the sidepods, and maybe arc the airbox (or lower it Champcar style) and they'll look fine.

I think they look off to the eye because the car is out of proportion, the rear sidepods, especially infront of the wheels, look huge in comparison to the airbox, and the sidepods themselves don't extend far enough forward, they look a bit like a pear. In person they apparently look pretty good, maybe because when you're standing next to one you're looking down on it, and not from side on.

The car has grown on me. It has provided great racing on the road/street courses it has already raced on, and if it provides some good racing at Indy, I don't give a fuck how it looks.

I like the car, personally. Sure, it isn't the CART car that we all ove and prefer, but this car we have actually provides great racing action on the roadies.

If the oval car is more of the same, so be it.

These cars have too much grip right now.
