We actually have too few night races now, in Cup anyway, with Kansas and Phoenix both switching to day races only for some reason. Any track with two dates should have one day and one night race IMO. I don't think I'd mind the Chase Dega and Phoenix race being run at night.

They have raced in the dark at Talladega before, just not under that many lights, per se...

Skip to about 1:18:00 for the weirdness.

There definitely needs to be some more night races in the Chase

There's three or four of them now... that's plenty, IMO. I'm with everyone else, missing the early start times.

Not sure about anyone else here who's approaching 30, but I'm not a night hound like I used to be. :D

The thing with the night races is it detracts from the local racing scene. Now, I know that argument has been made before, but since NASCAR is so adamant about it's home tracks bullshit, why schedule more races at night where the die-hard fans then have to make a choice between supporting their local track/drivers and watching the big boys on TV. Most fans prefer to watch the race live, not on DVR. A maximum of 5 night races is about right (excluding non-points races), staggered so that they're more or less before or after the local tracks close their season. That would put 1 or 2 at the beginning of the year, the Coke 600 (which is a Sunday) and 1 or 2 in the Chase.

I agree. Will turn 30 in a few months and I can't stay out and raise hell like I used to... Or maybe I just don't want to.

That was so awesome to watch. Especially Kyle Petty's lap with the car bottoming out.

In the comments:

Sterling Marlin said that campers in the infield would turn on their headlights to light up turn 3, then mysteriously when he got there they'd shut em off and he'd go thru in the dark.

Wow, I definitely have no interest in watching the Nationwide race tomorrow. 189mph in a tandem draft and 176mph in a pack. NASCAR has made a mockery of this place. Some guys are running 1min + lap times.

NASCAR mandated another smaller restrictor plate for the Nationwide cars in an attempt to stop the tandems as well as a smaller opening on the front bumper. They failed.

They also forgot that when they put a smaller plate on the cup cars it was to counter the smaller spoiler, Nationwide still has the big fatass spoiler on the back.

The top cars were in the 186 range in their only session today.
