Well, I opened up the Twittersphere on the F1Zone account yesterday to Bahrain.

One resident of the Gulf state said he had no problems in Bahrain, everything is fine except for a couple of protesters. It is normal. Then for much of the evening were residents saying F1 should not be going and there will be protests and 'F1 is racing in the blood of those who protest and have died' or words along those lines.

Examples:
[spoiler]@f1zone RT @alaashehabi See police shoot at our car & at unarmed man. Yes Yates. Feel much safer in Bahrain than London

I've been told by Khodr (F1Zone admin, who is going to Bahrain) that the race is on and he's been assured everything will be safe.

My main gripe is not that the race is on, but the fact that the FIA & Bernie have been so blind and saying that F1 will not interfere with politics. The official slogan of the race is: 'UniF1ed: One country united'. If that isn't political, I don't know what is. Todt's leadership has been so woeful that The Times's Kevin Eason tweeted that the FIA president has refused to talk about Bahrain. People say that F1 goes to China, but this is about safety and a country in which a lot of people have said they will directly target the grand prix.

I just hope the weekend passes without incident. Heaven forbid if anything happens.

On track, the DRS zone should be into the last corner and up to turn 4, the pit straight is good for passing so there's no need for it there.

This race should not have even been on the calendar this year, hopefully it passes without any major incidents. I fear something might happen but hopefully I'm wrong.

tbh I'm a bit indifferent to the situation. Maybe thanks to F1 going there I will finally get a sense of what is going on.

We're getting very little unbiased coverage of the situation, whenever we get anything it's balanced in favour of the rioters, some say there are less rioters than those that were in London last year, others say it's half the Country.

The status of the race has nothing to do with the Political situation and everything to do with money, if the FIA cancel the race they'll have to pay the Bahrain a bucket load of money in compensation, if Bahrain cancel the race then the FIA still get their sanctioning fee.

If anything the race status situation is the FIA's fault, for not writing cancellation clauses into the contracts they entered with FOM and FOM for the same thing with the Bahrain authorities.

If politics had anything to do with it, F1 wouldn't race in half the countries it does.

I expect the Bahrain authorities to have a 5 mile exclusion zone around the track.... so it'll look just fine and dandy....

This race is going to be a BOMB. The winner is the the driver who takes the most EXPLOSIVE start, has the most RADICAL pit strategy and drives in full RAGE. It will be a BLAST to watch. Many cars will be FLIPPED during the race. And when there's going to be FIREWORKS during the podium ceremony.

F*ck yeah! It will be the most REVOLUTIONARY Formula One race EVER! :flag:

Oh dear... haha

Like everyone else, I don't really understand this, and I somewhat fear that something will happen. Hope to hell that nothing will.

this will be like any other Bahrain Grand Prix: a weekend of boredom with nothing happening.

Probably going to be watching this in the pub with the F1 in pubs guys (google it! :p ) so those in Birmingham are welcome to turn up and bitch about the massive amount of risk in a politically dodgy climate all for the purpose of putting on a dull parade in person if you want! :p

Well if I were FOM, I'd put the world feed on a 15 second delay just in case....
