they gonna race the post-2010 circuit or pre-2010 one?

I hadn't even thought of that, if they threaten to race the 2010 layout I'll start a protest there worthy of cancelling the race!

Now I get the feeling that this is more about the track and people not liking Bahrain than it is about any atrocities. It's a bad situation, but F1 has raced in them before. What I don't like is the organizers trying to push that an F1 race will do anything for Bahrain, as it's always just been a display of vanity and wealth for the royals. I seriously doubt anything will happen, because unlike Sao Paulo, the race is held out in the middle of nowhere, and the teams and drivers can stay in the facilities.

The only reason the teams are kicking up a fuss is because they're trying to wash their hands of it. They'll all show up and race like nothing is going on and they'll leave as if nothing happened.

It would be interesting to see what would happen if a similar kind of protest happened before Spa or Canada or one of the tracks we actually enjoy, I agree.

There's no chance of a "Belgian spring" but I'm sure a lot of people's opinions would be a lot different if it was a decent track instead of that Tilke scribble in Bahrain

Jean Todt is not happy with The Times's Kevin Eason

- Bumped into Jean Todt. He is very unhappy with me/The Times with our criticism of him/FIA over Bahrain decision
- Todt says we were wrong. We stand by our criticism. Admittedly hard but fair....
- BTW Todt's pay off as we parted: "I would say nice to see you but it would be a lie. I do not like you."
- I would be better served at home. Next week especially
- The small man (sorry, petite) with a mission in Bahrain gets a well deserved G&T

Didn't Max once try and stop Brundle from getting a media pass after he said the FIA were on a McLaren witch hunt? Can see it going a similar way for him.

Don't know if it's anywhere near the track, but there you go.

Going to suck getting from the airport to the track!

Anyway I won't be boycotting it myself since it will prob randomly be an epic race and i would never forgive myself.

That's been happening for years in Bahrain, even since the 90's. Obviously it doesn't look good but people rarely get hurt from that. (Until the police decide to teargas them then they wonder why.)

Was it from a Brundle article in the Times paper?

I think so, in his Sunday Times column.

For anyone on Twitter, Ian Parkes from the Press Association, BryonF1 from the Mirror & Kevin Eason from the Times are worth a follow, in regards to Bahrain

It's already there, it's in the Middle East after all.

I think the racing will be good and will therefore watch this race. Schumacher likes the track so I'll be rooting for him. And Raikkonen and Alonso. :D

And I don't think it's fair to say the Middle East is hell. Sure, some places aren't good but not all of it is bad (UAE not included).

Those are the planned and announced demonstrations. Now consider how many unannounced ones there may be.

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.

Indeed, quite a broad statement to call the entire area hell

On that subject. Here's a selection of, somewhat photoshop enhanced, but still beautiful pictures from Iran: http://imgur.com/a/AZLY9
