Can't wait for this race. It's going to rival the 2005 US GP in terms of sheer awesome organisation and event management.

Bahrain can go to hell. I hope something happens that ruins the event. Of course, without any consequences to the paddock.

I am very divided about watching this race or not if it happens, tbh.

Actually, I hope the race gets cancelled and think it's stupid to make a race under a situation of an exclusion zone or whatsoever. But, I do not know the real intentions behind the protests and that's something hard to know, actually.

Tensions among Shunnis and Shias aren't something exclusive from Bahrain and in some cases the situation is the very same, apart from what is the supposedly oppressed side.

Bahrain still casting shadow tho. A member of Williams' catering staff has had her contract terminated after refusing to go on moral grounds

Yeah, I'm suprised Williams weren't more flexible cos that's going to lead to a whole load of legal hassle and negative PR.

What are the accommodation plans going to be for the teams? Surely they can't stay anywhere near Manama.

I think a lot of journalists aren't going. From what I know, Pablo Elizalde (Autosport) told me that Autosport is going, but TV people are staying at home for some countries.

With teams, who knows?

IMO, all teams will go or none of them.
If one team decide to not got to Bahrein, Bernie will be REALLY angry.

i really hope this is going to end bad ( im not talking about shooting and murdering, just that the event will screw up big ), i can not stand the arrogance of multimilionaries going in a country where poor people are fighting for human rights and pretend to put on a cyrcus show like nothing is happening. This is the kind of "fuck you, business is business" way of thinking that has lead us to the actual global crysis situation and they simply seem not to care at all.

and lol to Bernie's words "“I know people that live there and it’s all very quiet and peaceful.”. anyone guessing what kind of people could he know in bahrain? does he know a bakery, a school teacher, a firefighter or does he know the son of the president, the most rich businessman and people like that?

Actually strangely intrigued about this race. Pirelli tyres might make it fun; it'll be hot and there's a lot of tricky corners. Could be passing into Turn 1, 4 and 9 quite easily.

I think the lay-out of pre 2010 was scheduled for 2011, so I would assume it is for 2012 as well.

Manama itself is quite safe (the whole of Bahrain is really). Usually most of the drivers stay at the Ritz, which is just on the outskirts of the City Centre and a few others in the Novotel on the other side of the island. There's a main highway that goes straight to the track so I can't imagine there being any problems unless they decide to detour through the Shia villages. (when I went a few years ago before the media picked up on existing problems, I was told that you shouldn't go in those villages anyway...)
