So much for the "no more climbing wheels and launching cars."

So the wheel guards don't work. Anyone surprised?

Nope. When a car even nudges one in front, you can see the wheel guards bend. In any sort of impact which would be fast enough to cause a take off, the guards completely buckle and make contact with the rear wheel anyway. They are not only worthless, they are ugly and an extra puncture risk.

But I, and others, said that when they were first shown, and we were shot down saying that they are stronger than we think.

Poor move from Rahal IMO. Can't chop across like that.

Absolutely no mention yet of how Tagliani got his damage.

I blame Rahal 99% for that collision.

There's about a 4" gap between the end of the wheel guard and the outside edge of the tyre, all they need to do is make the guard wide but as we've been saying for months, it still won't fix the problem.

If I were Indycar, I'd be more concerned at the way the car reacted when it actually hit something solid, than it taking flight, anybody who's been round racing knows you'll never stop cars flying ever, they'll always find a way to.

Been fair most open wheel cars would have gone up like that after that sort of contact.

Yeah, I don't see anything unusual about that incident.
