Shouldn't be too big a deal. Shanghai offers plenty of opportunity to overtake and it looks like it will be wet anyway.

Previous wet editions: 2006, 2007, 2009, 2010.

Maybe he'll win then, starting on pole didn't work out the first 2 races.

I think they were damaged a few years ago and never got repaired.

Probably won't be avaliable outside the UK but Sky have posted the Thursday press conference:
http://www.skysports.com/video/inline/0 ... 55,00.html

Hamilton says the team have had to change his gearbox so he'll take a 5-spot grid penalty.

'Q: Does anyone acknowledge they may have a moral objection in going to Bahrain?'
A: Dead Silence

Looks like the drivers have been told no comment on Bahrain...

I must say it's a bit vague that the gearbox issue only arose now. Reminds me of that time that someone dropped (?) a part and caused a grid penalty that way as well.

Could be the 2nd time a driver who trained pole position, will not earn pole position.

Raikkonen - Monza 2005 (went to Montoya)
Alonso - Hungary 2007 (went to Hamilton)

I guess there's more.

Then again, they never had people in them.

Won't be able to see this race live. Hopefully I'll make it through Sunday without finding out the result.

How many people actually attend. I've always thought that it was reasonably well attended, but they just built far too many seats.

Hasn't it been kind of "staged"(sorry for lack of better term) by Chinese authorities throughout the years?

I mean, I think to have read somewhere, some years ago, that to make the crowd looks big, they gave free tickets to students or something like this. A same thing happened in their Olympics where they gave lots of free tickets to fill the stands ands gives the world a good impression.

Well I hope the Mclaren proves to be the fastest car this weekend, having Lewis start from further down the order is a great recipe for overtaking on Sunday morning!)

(And probably a lot of debate on this forum on Sunday afternoon too! A shame Massa in all likelyhood won't have the speed to get ahead of him in qualifying for round 42 of their little altercations!) :p

Yep, they had bus loads of children come in for the race and also har miltary personal in normal clothes fill in the 'gaps' in the stands, but at the end of the day China is massively important to the car manufacturers and it's important for F1 to get a foothold in China because wether we like it or not China is going to be a major player in the world (although it already is tbh), lets just be thankful the track isn't dead boring!

Though this is China and they are certain strings attached, I imagine you don't take up tickets, even if they are free, if you aren't interested slightly in the product being offered.

You do if the government threatens to make your life interesting.

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.
