Didn't get to see any of the race. Have only seen the wreck between Bowyer/Gordon/Johnson.

I laughed too damn hard at this.

Both races I've missed due to work, Jr. has finished 3rd. I shouldn't even attempt to watch next weeks race.

Looking at the results, Reutimann was making the right decision. He was only 3 laps behind Blaney, who was out.. if he had finished those laps, he'd have finished ahead of Blaney, thus putting him in the top 35 in owner points.. which gives a lot less stress entering the next weeks race.

Ok i just watched it and after i heard all the post race interviews, IMO, it's just a very unfortunate series of events, you can't blame anyone for this.

BTW: Is it just me or does Johnson have an incredible amount of bad luck this year?

Unfortunate series of events for sure...

Turns out TBR had parked Blaney so that Reutimann could pass him and get 1 more point, which would have tied him for 35th with Cassill. The #10 would have won the tie breaker and stayed locked in at Texas. They should have parked Blaney a few laps earlier though. So with five to go something breaks on Reutimann's car. He should have pitted for sure but I can see why he would try to continue around to gain that extra position that's there for the taking. Insult to injury, the car shuts off. That caution sends the race into overtime. Surely if Reutimann stopped on purpose he would have fixed the left front and continued on long enough to pass Blaney. Instead he retired to the garage with legit problems.

Huh, team orders for top 35 in points, who'd have thunk it.

I don't want to hear that "OMG they're racing for Danica" horseshit. Yeah, maybe parking Blaney had a role in that, but ANY team that intends on racing the full distance will do all they can to make all the laps they can to score all the points they can. Thus, Blaney and Danica aside, the 10 car would still have been limping to the finish with a suspension issue, still limping with a dying engine, and still seizing up at an unfortunate moment.

The thing is they could just swap the points for Danica anyway. Instead of her driving Car #10 should be in car #36. They did it at Front Row Motorsports the past few years when Kevin Conway was driving.

Hell, its another different kind of T-shirt they could sell.

Looking back at the finish, I don't buy Bowyer's excuse that he was forced into it by Newman. Newman looked low, and Bowyer went down to block him. There was no room for a block except to plough on ahead into the leaders or get spun out himself. Bowyer pretty clearly took the first option, and also held off braking till way late (far after Newman's initial bump). Calling it an unfortunate series of events is letting Bowyer off way too easy IMO.

I know it's a lame comparison, but what happened to Bowyer on Sunday has happened to me in sim racing a few times before. You're just taking a look, and even if the guy behind you hits you just as you're getting to the pedal, it messes you up pretty good.

I still blame Newman for the wreck. However, the slower start for the 24 and 48 on old tires had a lot to do with it as well. It was a shitty sequence of events that had it all go down.
