*If* you are fine with his performances then *why* are you questioning them? You say he's made mistakes but in reality, he's only made one. By that logic then Senna, Maldonado, Vettel, Button, Karthikeyan and lots of other drivers could be replaced mid-season as they've made mistakes and cost their teams points.

Well you've missed the point but I can make it again I guess. We know that he has good pace but so far he hasn't delivered any points either due to mistakes or misfortunate or whatever the heck you want to call it. If by 3/4ths of the way through the season he's continued the same trend, if you're Lotus, why wouldn't you go back to a proven race winner (assuming he's healthy and can put in a full winter testing stint) over Grosjean/Jerome for 2013?

Just to clarify, I am not advocating dumping Grosjean simply out of impatience or lack of consistency. I am all for giving young quick but inconsistent drivers, time to show their true potential. But this would be a slightly unique situation, that I think would be tempting for Lotus. If by Monza lets say he has delivered good qualifying performances but only has a small handful of points to show for it with very little mechanical failures. And on the sidelines you have a healthy Kubica all set and ready to go testing, why wouldn't you pursue that opportunity for 2013?

I get your point, I have from the outset. But there's only been 2 races. Let's not get ahead of ourselves. He's made one mistake and had some misfortune. Others have done the same.

As for the 2013 option well, you wouldn't pursue that because that's not going to happen. Kubica and F1 is finished. Closed door. End of. etc. etc. etc...

Alright then kals lol However I think we'll be revisiting this topic in the fall. I'm no doctor but ofcourse optimistic that he will make a full recovery. And who knows, if Lotus are still stuck on retaining Grosjean 2013, then perhaps Robert will get a call from Maranello. I know, I know its far too early for silly season talk and I'm getting ahead of myself but we've seen stranger things happen in F1.

There was a guy racing in the early 90's in the UK who had a very similar arm injury at Donington Park called Richard Morgan (iirc), when he came back to racing in 93 iirc having made what Doctors called a perfect recovery, he could move his arm and hand just fine, and did pretty well in Karts and Junior series like Formula First and Formula Ford, but when it came to driving bigger cars, he stood no chance because he had no strength in his arm.

Roberts issues are not how much percentage he recovers, but what kind of strength and movement he has when he does, medical science hasn't moved on that far in the last 20 years (especially regarding reattaching severed arms), so if you're familiar with this kind of injury, you know he has virtually no chance of driving competitively in a Grand Prix again.

Is there really any point having this thread open right now? After all, it's only served as another place to discuss and speculate on Kubica (and a little Grosjean during 2012) which is ongoing in other threads any way. This thread seems a little redundant.

Just combine it with the ban this summer when he opens the 2014 Random F1 Discussion thread.

Guys, I'm really excited for this year. The journalists are saying that this could be the year we finally see Klingon driver Jaak'tar Hamiltor win the WDC in the McLaren. Though the Reanimated Corpse supporters may have something to say with defending champion Michael Schumacher in the Ferrari.

2097? No doubt Schumacher will still be competing. And his fanboys will still believe he is capable of winning.
