Gotta love the job the #5 team did on the left side of the car.

Apparently Keselowski didn't go by the 2nd timing mark, so Kenseth went, so it was deemed legal. You're supposed to start within that window.. the 2nd restart, he was behind Keselowski.

So just looked at the points, as a result of all the bad luck/wrecks so far this season, Kasey Kahne now sits 34th in owner points 8O

Loved Kahne's interview on Fox

WE ARE THE FASTEST CAR ON THE PLANET AND REGAN SMITH WAS SO SLOW, HE WAS SO SLOW (as they battle for 5th place)

I must say I was quite happy to see the half-empty stands yesterday. I've had enough of these tracks constantly tinkering unnecessarily ever since Humpy got the ball of destruction rolling on Charlotte in 2005 and it's high time some of it comes back to bite them fiercely in the ass.

Bristol was one of the races that I looked forward to every year. I flicked through the whole thing in about 10 minutes today, and didn't seem to miss anything. :(

Just bank it back to 36 degrees and have at it! (if it's that easy anyways)

It hasn't been at 36 degrees for a very long time. Even before the 2007 reconfiguration it wasn't nearly that steep. Here's a bit more detail:

Wikipedia wrote:
The track long advertised its banking as 36 degrees, which at one time made it the most steeply banked track used by NASCAR. However, BMS now lists its banking at 24 to 30 degrees, reflecting the results of the track's most recent resurfacing in 2007.

Even before the resurfacing, there was some dispute as to the accuracy of the measurement. In the 1980s, ESPN often claimed the turns were banked at 35 degrees during television telecast of events at the track. In an interview with Stock Car Racing's Larry Cothren, driver Ryan Newman openly disputed the measurement of the banking of Bristol Motor Speedway's turns. Newman's crew measured the banking during a test session to aid with setups, and found that the turns were banked 26 degrees, rather than the advertised 36 degrees. A Camping World Truck Series open test noted the banking had dropped following resurfacing, to 22-27 degrees, in a variable banking configuration.[2]

The bit about Newman's crew was sometime around 2003-2005 I think.

It really doesn't matter if it's anywhere from 22 degrees (the lowest currently claimed) to 30 degrees (Bristol's claim for the current top groove), if they make it the same from bottom to top, it will probably be more like the Bristol everyone's accustomed to.

I hope they put Bristol back to how it was. I used to love watching races there and it was on my list of tracks to visit.

Yeah... me and a coworker had a very heated debate today on why the fans didn't show up yesterday... nearly came to blows... lol.

He's debating that it's the economy and of course, I said it's the racing. Maybe the economy has a lot to do with out of towners not coming, but shit far, why aren't the locals snatching up the tickets? That used to be the complaint around here for years... Locals bitching they couldn't get tickets. Now they can, and they won't. Cause it sucks. I saw tickets for the entire weekend going for $40 on Stubhub that went unsold.

Someone needs to do a edit and set "They're bringing Bristol Back" to Timberlake's Sexyback or something...

Amazing that they need to make these changes as according to the media nothing has ever been wrong with the variable banking.
Commentators, writers, pundits etc they've all been waxing lyrical about how great the new banking is and how good it is now you can pass at Bristol now.

Its gonna be hilarious watching them try to backpedal from now on lol

Wonder what would happen to the spectators first: going deaf from the noise amplification or asphyxiation from the fumes having virtually nowhere to go?
