We don't know who's sandbagging and who isn't, but Toyotas seem fast enough to prevent an Audi-overkill. Reliability is another issue of course.

On RLM Davidson pretty much clarified that the game plan for them is speed > reliability.

Last years pole time was a 3:25.738, the Hybrid R18 is already up to 3:25.927 under testing conditions with lower grip level of the track.

Toyota seems to be almost as fast as the Audis, so lets hope its not just for one lap, but over the distance, too.

So the Toyota is faster in the speed traps than the Audi. So can people stop moaning that the petrol private entries can't challenge the works diesels now? We have balance when the entries are equal.

Enzo Potolicchio was driving the #44 Starworks entry at the time. Driver was out and walking around and was fine according to Radio Le Mans.

Because another (this time first with a real incentive (incentive=Toyota)) tweak was made for this year, you can wipe off previous years and pretend the situation was the same? Especially pre-2011 regs...

Speeed traps aren't everything and perfect equality is impossible. The big elephant will stay in the room.

People were complaining this year too, and with the claims of the Toyota being 70hp down (which clearly was bullshit), there was quite a lot of noise about it. Whilst speed traps aren't everything, they are a LOT, and you can't turn up at Le Mans with an engine that us 70hp down, with unfair regulations, then run the fastest in the speed traps, especially whilst having a respectable amount of downforce dialled in (as shown by the sector times).

But the fact of the matter is, everybody moaned that the petrol cars couldn't challenge the diesels. Well, the hard truth that nobody wants to accept is that privateer entries shouldn't be able to challenge works entries, otherwise it'd have to be unfairly balanced in favour of the privateers. And now the second we have a works petrol turn up, it is able to match the works diesels, despite playing down the claims for months. That, my friends, is called equality.

Guillaume Moreau still in surgery after his crash this morning. His life is not in danger but they're still working on his back, after having suffered a 12th vertebrae fracture. Went in backwards at the Porsches, must have been very very very hard...

EDIT: I misread the French and switched around the 12 and vertebrae, my mistake

Saw the damages to his car, doesn't look big at all. Guess he hit the concrete wall backward which hurt his back.

"Guillaume has since undergone an emergency operation performed by Professor Olivier Lucas at the University Hospital of Angers’ Neurosurgery Department. It was crucial to quickly reduce pressure around the spinal cord following the fracture.
Although the operation went well, it will be several months before his level of recovery can be fully assessed."
