That's a surprise! So we got no factory teams left then?

Was there any interest for other manufacturers to join in lately?

I think it's good news. Maybe there will be more private entries and some more excitement.

Honda is joining later this season ahead of a full time campaign in 2013.

Chevrolet pulling out after this season.

Can't say I blame them. They've got nothing left to prove and no competition.

Where does this leave RML and the drivers though? BTCC please! :D :p

Don't forget about Lada & SEAT possibly returning full-time.

What's the point of any championship? It's just cars going around in circles.

Honda aren't fully confirmed for 2013 I thought? Only doing a tipping their toes in the water exercise this year and let's remind ourselves about what happened with the last manufacturer to do that. Where are they now? I do see that from the Touring Car Times article that they said they would be running two cars in 2013, but I am have my doubts.

There are a lot of unknown and doubts about works teams for 2013.

It could be a really open championship in 2013, however with it possible being fully privateers.

Meaning Muller, Menu and Nash will be out of a job? Or they could join a privateer team or return to BTCC? (wishful thinking!£

Well, looks like Honda are actually going to enter next year:

That's good news I suppose.

Wow. Honda vs a bunch of old BMWs and Seats. Sounds gripping.

I don't get why they're there, at all.

They're not as competitive in the WTCC as they were in the BTCC
The TV channel WTCC gets shown on gets much less ratings than the BTCC does
Much less track time in the WTCC than BTCC

It just defies logic, unless they don't like sharing the Ford spotlight in the BTCC and went WTCC'ing because Ford weren't happy about 2 teams in the BTCC

Anyway, how long do we think before Honda take the mantle of "team to hate" in the WTCC 2013?
I give it until the first reversed grid race when they bully off a popular independent driver until the fans turn on them!

I don't think Ford are doing a bad job in WTCC this year. They've got a brand new car, had some homolagation issues which meant they ran early rounds with additional weight (even compared to the heaviest marques) and they've not got full manufacturer backing to fast track the development.

They're coming good and I wouldn't put it past one of the drivers to get a podium.

If you want a comparison, think RML and Chevy in 2005.
