Lee Holdsworth's IRWIN Ford which I posted last year, but may as well whack it in this thread seeing as it is 2012.
Image

The Bottle-O Ford with "A. Driver" on the side. Certainly an improvement over last year's.

Do threads really need to be dedicated to anyone? We'll just end up changing it to reflect the latest big news anyway.

Will be interesting to see how things plan out with the New Zealand race, this could very well be the last one, I know Hampton Downs (which is an ace track) want to get V8 Supercars but for the some reason the series seems hell bent on having a street race in NZ, but with our population it simply isn't financially practical.

I'm in the hairpin grandstand this year. Decided for a change after being pit entry for the past few years.

David Wall is a surprise announcement for the #21 Brad Jones Racing seat with Wilson Security backing.

Mark Winterbottom has broken his ankle water skiing in the off season but says he will be right for the pre season test at Sandown on February 11.

interesting....

Quote:
American car manufacturer Chrysler has become the first brand to break ranks and declare an interest in joining Holden and Ford in the V8 Supercars championship.

The president and chief executive of Chrysler's street and race technology (SRT) arm Ralph Gilles confirmed the brand's interest during the Detroit auto show earlier this month.

"I am extremely interested (in V8 Supercars)," Gilles is quoted on the V8X Magazine website.

"It's not the first time I have heard of it but I don't want to let on that we are committing just yet.

"It's very unique to that market so it may work beautifully in the Australian market, so I am willing to help out if they are wanting to find a way."

Question is, who would they pay a nice sum to, to run their cars! Most teams have already started a lot of R&D into the COTF and there is actually a lot more intricate "outside the box" style design going on to find an advantage in that car due to the much tighter regs and similarities in every car.

From another site,

If it enters, the 300 would apparently be the first car to be run under the SRT banner rather then the traditional name plate.

Well, Chrysler does have history in Australian touring car racing, after all, back in the early 1970's they were right up alongside Holden and Ford with their Valiant make.

What I don't understand is that Chrysler recently pulled the 300C from Australia completely. So they will be running a car based on something you can't even get here.

This site says you'll get the new one in June. EDIT: Shane's link says that too.

Same engine in the 300C and SRT8? Weird.

Hmm wonder where I heard the contrary from then. At least this makes sense why they would consider entering, that being said with only one car on sale and one which doesn't sell well it's still surprising they want in. Perhaps they are looking ahead to the series racing in the US next year?
