RtN, I currently have Felipe 2nd in the post break Championship (and perhaps we should also remember that if wasn't for the championship situation he may well have given 6 points away helping Fernando)

Vettel 93
Massa 56
Button 55
Raikkonen 51

I think you're right.

The period I was thinking of was the British GP and after.

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.

For the finales to be really messed up, Alonso/Vettel need to start crashing, but without involving Hamilton or Raikkonnen this time.

Vettel would secure the title just by winning 3 of the remaining 4 races. Even finishing 1,2,2,2 Alonso would only score 79 points, which would mean Vettel would win by 2 points.

Despite his form, I don't think "just winning 3 of the remaining 4 races" is that likely.

The table states that Vettel is guaranteed the title with 3 wins and a 2nd, I'm saying he requires "just" 3 wins.

I kind off hope for some bad luck for Alonso and Vettel in India and Abu Dhabi. How cool would it be if 3 or 4 guys go into the last race and still be able to grab the championship!

Just one-year deal. Paves the way for Vettel in 2014.

Pleased for Felipe. He's done a good job for much of the season but has had a lot of bad luck and unfair criticism.

On another note, why the hell does every driver announcement happen while I'm out? It's comical.

There's definitely more of a long term game being played rather than the teams focusing solely on 2013....

Massa, Webber on 1 year contracts, Hamilton sitting over at Mercedes who, if he isn't completely out of his mind (and who knows at the moment) will have huge performance related get out clauses in his contract (if Mercedes isn't in the top 3 in the championship he's free to sign elsewhere, etc) Button, Alonsos, can't remember when their contracts are up but they're nearer the end of the careers than the start...

Silly season might be over, for now, but 2013's silly season might have to be renamed "batshit insane" season for all the changes it'll bring.

Button is at McLaren until he retires, that's clear from everything he and Whitmarsh has said.

So, 1 hour until Raikkonen news.

:D Top job by the marketing firm. But I never believed this would have anything to do with F1.

Jackie Stewart: Sebastian Vettel not yet a great

Quote:
Former F1 champion Sir Jackie Stewart does not believe Sebastian Vettel can yet be called one of the greats, even if he wins a third straight title. The Red Bull driver won his fourth race of 2012 in Korea last weekend to take the lead in the drivers' standings. But Stewart told BBC Sport: "If you've got a superior car, it's relatively easy to win the championship."To really show you're one of the greatest, you have to deliver when you haven't got the best machinery."The three-time world champion added: "I have the highest respect for Sebastian, but he could not have achieved what he has without the Adrian Newey factor."

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/formula1/19969175

Any driver who can win multiple championships in F1 should be recognized as one the "greats." Far as I'm concerned, Vettel proved he's a rare talent at Toro Rosso in 2008 with a win and 35 points.

You know, Jim Clark never won a championship without the best car.

That's why Webber struggled to even win race last year, and this year he's fallen back. Webbers a shit hot driver, and he's struggling badly against Sebastian. If it was "relatively easy" then Webber would've been comfortably second every time.
