Fills in a lot of blanks here.

Perez comes with Telmex money, which is worth a lot. It'll fill the Vodafone gap nicely. McLaren have to start paying for engines soon too, so money is at a premium.

It'll also fit with Ferrari resigning Massa for a single year and the Vettel rumours. They won't want Perez for a single year, and the claim of him not being ready is BS and we all know it. It'd explain webber sticking with RBR despite complaining endlessly about them. He's not going to sign for another team for a year then find himself out of a job.

It also fits with Schumacher's comments regarding his retirement soon. Gutierrez seems to be favourite to replace Perez, which would suit Sauber well because he's another Telmex driver. Telmex shouldn't have an issue sponsoring 2 teams, especially with how much money they pump into other series.

It's hard to guess whether Carlos Slim is going to keep the support to Sauber, subsequently taking Gutierrez to the team, or not. Taking the "Claro" brand to McLaren and putting Telmex to Sauber, maybe.

Anyway, if there's no support for Gutierrez to break into Sauber, there may be a lot of competition to this Sauber seat.

Hamilton to Mercedes will be interesting. I believe he will be much faster than Rosberg. Also Perez to McLaren, me likey. I bet that if they keep him for multiple years he will be able to keep up with Button by mid season 2014. going to be so interesting, hope all is confirmed by the time I wake up in the morning. I love Formula 1.

Didn't everyone think that when Button moved the other way in 2009?

Let's wait and see...

No, it's not. There's still been no official statement, despite what the BBC say.

Sky News just reported it too. But there's still been nothing from McLaren, Mercedes, Sauber or the drivers involved.

for some reason I keep thinking of the FIA ruling before the Belgian GP of 2007. Ron Dennis saying then: "we have the best drivers".

Not really, that was more of a "why would he (Jenson) want to play second fiddle to Lewis? oh well I guess it's better than the BBC" question.

This time it's just a simple "Why?", there is no logic to it, it's not like Lewis can use the "I'm a multiple champion and want to single handedly build Mercedes into championship winners too" card, because he hasn't and can't, and it's not about Mercedes being multiple champions and him being lured by the scent of glory either.

I think he's lost faith with McLaren. I think there's a realisation that he's no longer the favoured son.

There's always the chance that the team could become a front runner. Lewis must have the self belief that he can lead the team forwards. Whether it happens, who knows.

It was similar with Mika Hakkinen wasn't it? he got fed up with the small things that McLaren were getting wrong
