I think Senna was upset with the reaction that Piquet got; he himself had the issue of the chicane the year before and no-one stood up for him, but when Piquet points it out all the drivers agree with him.

It isn't primary evidence of the two of them not getting along, agreed, but it does show the problems between them.

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.

That will only be negative for the people at the track, not for people watching it on tv.

Senna had a fantastic memory about what gear and amount of revs he was using around a straight or corner and he can recall them in each lap!

I bought a couple of biographies of Senna and I think it was in a bio by called Ayrton Senna A Tribute by Ivan Randall (thanks Google), a wonderful book, and one of the stories in it was how at Monaco in 1985 in Practice Senna missed a gear and the revs increased slightly. He told the team about this and they should change the engine because he damaged it, they looked at the data and saw nothing and didn't change it. The engine blew in the race.

So by that logic you should hate Spa then?

I find it a pity not more laps are covered. But of course I don't hate my home track. Rules are rules, and they stipulate 300 km + 1 lap (except Monaco).

Races should be longer.

Longer tracks and longer races and screw time limits.

I get bored by the fact that most races seem to be between 55 and 65 laps nowadays. It's cool having 44 laps of Spa or 78 of Monaco because it feels different.

Monaco used to be 100 laps. I liked that.

Just looking at the last few races to join the calendar. Singapore is 61 (although that feels very long, it is basically 2 hours), Valencia 57, Korea 55, India 60, Abu Dhabi 55, Austin is 55 IIRC.

---

It looks like Ferrari and Mercedes will be holding their young driver test at Magny Cours the week after the Italian Grand Prix.

It was blasphemy when it was extended to 82!

It was a challenge for the drivers knowing it is the end of the season and they have to push hard and to get to the finish so Adelaide was the perfect season ender.
