2006 - title contender
2007 - title winner
2008 - title contender
2009 - struggle
2010 - title leader until final round
2011 - struggle
2012 - title leader as of now

Where are they disappointing?

2009 and 2011 they struggled. And it's not rare that Ferrari is "slow" at the start of a season. You have to admit that the last 4 years the Red Bull has been the better car compared to the Ferrari.

Ferrari hasn't been great since 2009 if you ask me. The fact that Alonso is on top right now and in 2010 was more due to himself than his car.

Ofcourse there is the history and prestige but I agree there is no other reason for Vettel to leave Red Bull.

So? They've still been title contender's multiple times, I fail to see how that is being disappointing "year after year".

I think they are disappointing by their own standards. Being beaten by McLaren and Red Bull for the past 4 years, including this one, could be called disappointing. It's not bad of course but I agree with Shaddix.

Aside from money. Seriously, you see how much more Alonso is getting paid than Vettel?

It begins to irk me when someone would leave success for money, particularly when they are already on an absolutely ridiculous sum of money. I mean 10 mill?

Because one day, very soon, Red Bull may well slip down the order and eventually pull out of F1. It's not unreasonable to see them do a Benetton.

And especially if Ferrari succeed in nabbing Newey.

I doubt Vettel would be still in F1 if that happens.

As long as Red Bull is available without restrictions (talks about that over here btw) and they stay associated to (extreme) sports I cannot see them quit any time soon.

Newey to Ferrari? Not sure if it's gonna happen. It just doesn't seem like a match to me. Don't ask me where he will go if he leaves Red Bull. Maybe Fernandez can convince him to help Caterham (wishfull thinking).

Well the reality is that the status quo might not change much next year (that seems slightly contradictory but I think you see what I mean)

But with the new engines & regulations in 2014, we might get a 2009 style shake up of the grid. Who knows where the right place to be will be? After 2008 you wouldn't have said the top four in the championship in 2009 would be the drivers who finished 18th, 8th, 14th & 11th the previous season with the teams that finished 9th and 7th the previous season.

Thanks.

Seeing as I'll be camping with a group of friends - although I can only book this next Thursday! - , Fabs, can you tell the rain gods to stay firmly away from Silverstone please? :p

German courts have found Gribkowsky guilty and he has been sentenced to 8.5 years in prison. Could get interesting at Silverstone, what with Hockenheim up in mid-July.

I hope that won't be a repeat of 2000-2004. 2011 was bad enough.

Couldn't see him being any more dominant than he was last season. Will be good though, wonder who he will partner, if it is Alonso I will pant cream.

Piecing together some other rumours from Atlas, it seems as though the plan is for a Fred-Seb superteam, with either Massa or Webber getting a one-year offer to put themselves in the shop window.

But Alonso is on record as saying that all he wants is a third WDC. He's not interested in any other records. He may well leave should he achieve that this year or next.

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.

Nice way for Bernie to divert attention away from the Girbkowski trial
http://www.guardian.co.uk/sport/2012/ju ... ecclestone

There will be a route unveiled later today, but it's just a fantasy thought up as a promotion for McLaren sponsors Santander. It isn't real, and a lot of the media seem to believe it is.

Oh, and it's like the classic news stories. "Australian GP to be axed" as we get in the run up to Melbourne for example. There's always plans for a London GP as Silverstone approaches...
