I see the thing of lacking a dominance in the season, and it may be hapenning actually. But I don't to what extent is this relevant. I mean, lots of people know the likes of Schumacher, Senna and Prost, but most of them know them by reviews and news and kind of, not by actually watching and understanding the details of the sport.. For me, the memories of non-fans are irrelevant in this context.

And in this season we've got 6 different winners, exciting racing for F1 standars. And all this is happening with high driving standards, ie, Maldonado won in Spain after a very tough challenge against a 2 times World Champion, definitely not a fluke. It does seem everyone can win a race when you see the winners table, but watching it you see that this happens because of a field full of talented drivers, not for lottery/randomness. I can't see why it is bad.

Wow, now that's enough to make Österreichring's mainstraight to look flat, judging from that angle. 8O

I love all this bitching about "unpredictability"

At the end of the season who do we think the world champion will be driving for?

Probably Red Bull, Mclaren or Ferrari. Outside Chance Mercedes.

That's not exactly that random, is it, the cream always rises to the top, its just in 2012 it's taking a lot longer its a lot more fun watching it get there! ;)

Code:
76    Fernando Alonso
73    Sebastian Vettel
73    Mark Webber
63    Lewis Hamilton
59    Nico Rosberg
51    Kimi Raikkonen
45    Jenson Button
35    Romain Grosjean

It's not taking longer at all. Champion will be one of those eight [in all likelihood just one of the top five imo]. The races are more jumbled but the same teams are winning and dominating the podium. Renault/Lotus/whatever are just recovering from a blip in 2011.

An interesting point raised in Autosport this year is that we should enjoy it because it won't last. The likes of Williams, Force India & Sauber might slip back in 2013 because they'll be spending more of 2012 developing their car than usual.

Yep, also the fact that the big teams will have more of a handle on the tyres and will be able to design a car to suit them better next year, as well as longer to think up any tricks to get back the downforce lost by the double diffuser ban!

Look at 2002, 2003, 2004 for comparison.
2002, dire Ferrari parade, FIA bring in new rules to spice up the show, 2003 becomes a diamond in the rough, a rare good season in the middle of a period of walkovers. 2004 Ferrari work out the new rules properly and the procession returns...

Not saying it'll be quite that bad next year but in all likelyhood it won't be as good as 2012...will any season ever be? :p

Lets get real here people. Its not Like HRT of Marussia have won a race or finished on the podium. Take out Maldanado and Perez and everyone who has won a race or finished on the podium are people we would have expected to be in that position come the start of the year. Perspective please.

I wouldn't discount 1 of those teams (add STR into the mix) giving up on their 2012 campaign to focus on a 2013 car and try and get a head-start on the others who are battling for 4th, 5th in the constructors this year.

Yes, but the problem is that neither Williams, Sauber nor Force India can afford to do so. Massive difference between 6th and 8th in the championship in terms of prize money. Only if one of them really drops off will they focus on 2013.

For Williams, I believe that the difference between finishing 6th or 8th will affect whether they have Senna or Bottas alongside Maldonado next season...

There isn't any bitching about "unpredictability", rather a couple of news outlets misrepresenting Jenson's comments and then a few people taking those articles out of context.

The same top 5 in 2012 will be the top 5 in 2013 though, in all likelihood.

Anyway, Red Bull floor is illegal

The pack usually comes closer when there is no major rule changes with the exception being banning some of the systems big teams have and smaller teams can't afford to build that well.
