So yeah, nothing concrete.

Bianchi (Ferrari), Bird (Mercedes), Turvey (McLaren) and Paffett (McLaren) also to enter the test.

To me Paffett has too much F1 mileage to enter this kind of test. A flaw in the rules they should correct.

What's up with the Raikkonen-speak at the end of that article? :p

Is zero grand prix starts too many?

You know what he meant. And he's right - Paffett isn't being used as a 'young driver', which is what this test is meant to be for. Paffett isn't going anywhere now and they will treat it as a normal test.

lol, that's just rubbish. He has more miles in an F1 car than half of the grid. Just because he hasn't started a race, doesn't mean he isn't experienced in the cars.

This test is supposed to be about giving drivers the chance to test the cars where they otherwise wouldn't because the current testing regulations stop them getting any running. Putting Paffett in the car is completely against what this test is actually meant for.

The fact someone up and coming is missing out on the opportunity, as intended means quite a few people care I imagine.

Placing Paffet in there is against the whole idea of the test, to give newcomers experience in a F1 car, something Paffet has a fudgeload of.

Not only that, it is to assess the potential of these new drivers. They are never going to do that with Paffett because he's stuck in the Mercedes Development program and been by-passed by di Resta now. He'll never make it into an F1 seat, but will continue to take up spaces meant for new comers. They did the same to Jamie Green and Oliver Jarvis.

McLaren seems odd in the way they run sometimes. Ferrari realised after Massa's crash in 2009 that they needed an academy, and they have Perez & Bianchi on standby in effect. Mercedes has Sam Bird, Red Bull has a plethora of drivers they can rely on (and have had great success with), yet McLaren has no-one I can think of.

They will probably just rob Force India, like Ferrari did with Fisichella. If not, Paffett.

Yeah I don't think they would put Turvey in the car when things went wrong for one of their drivers.

But then again, it wouldn't be to hard to just grab a talented ex-f1 driver like Hulkenberg or Heidfeld. Or maybe even borrow a RedBull talent like Vergne or Ricciardo. Why invest in your own program if the drivers are there to grab when needed?
