I'll never get used to the sportscar rear end on these cars, nor do they need a bullshit faux airbox when they have turbo engines, should've gone with the classic Indycar open roll hoop imo.

But from some angles the car looks ok.

The coolest view you get on it is from the t-bar on-board camera these days, it really looks racy from that angle, which suggest the front of it looks better than the mess that begins at the sidepods, I guess.

Yeah its better than the last car but that's not saying much, chewing gum stuck to the pavement is going to look slightly better than dogshit, but it's still not what you want to see when you look down there.

I love the racing and I don't mind the cars but aesthetics plays apart in the enjoyment.

In a world perfect yes, definitely. It would be great to have beautiful cars but quite frankly it's pathetic to continually complain about it when we're being treated to some great racing this year. For the past seasons we've been all asking for Indycar to sort out the cars to give us great racing and they've done that. Indycar have also started to sort out the downforce as well.

I just wish people would give the complaining about the aesthetics a rest. It's repetitive and boring.

I have barely followed Indycar much ever and this season I've tried to watch every single race.. because the racing is better and in the end, that is the main thing. Everything else is just icing. I'd like to see them get more power but truth be told, I only wanted that so they'd have to 'drive' the cars instead of hanging on. Now that it is possible to have that with aero tweaks and softer tyres instead, to where they even have to back off the gas at places like Texas, I don't care that much about having more power. As for its looks, it's fresh and unique, kind of futuristic and imho, an improvement over the ancient boxy looking previous car. The engines sound better than they did until last year too. Everything can be improved about everything but they are at a pretty good place right now.

Too bad the people involved are trying to rip it to pieces.

I LOVE the sound of these cars, btw. I had to contain myself at Barber every time they went down pit straight.

Yeah, they sound a lot better in person than on TV.

I love you way the cars look, sound, and look. I'm not alone either.

Seen better cars, heard better cars, but haven't seen better Indycar racing in a long time.

The small changes many would like to see will be ironed out over time as more bodykit designs are created. We didn't get to the sexy mid 90's champ cars overnight.

Yes, asethetics do matter with race cars. They need to look the part. They should look fast just sitting still.

Looks like engines might have a major impact on the championship race

Quote:
Scott Dixon has run out of IndyCar-approved engines. That doesn’t mean the veteran driver has stopped believing he can contend for the series championship.

“You’ve got to roll with it,” Dixon said Thursday as he prepares for the Honda Indy Toronto on Sunday. “There’s nothing we can change. It is what it is. A little bit of concern, but you can’t do anything by sitting up all night worrying about it.”

With six races still left, that’s considered a likely possibility, and would be a significant blow for any driver, especially on road courses where it’s difficult to gain ground.

You don't look at the fireplace when you're poking the fire. That said, you don't spend ages wooing the fireplace in the hope of sex to begin with.
