Hmm, bit of conflicting information there, Helio is still obviously on the "pack racing=GOOD!" message and is promising everyone will be running 3 wide in the race...

The others seem more optimistic it has gone though, and I honestly think if they thought there'd be pack racing after what happened, they wouldn't get in the cars.

Mind you, there wasn't really much pack racing at Texas last year either.
Or racing of any kind, so lets all not get our hopes up on this one eh?

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.

So I wasn't the only one who fell asleep in Race 2 last year... Jolly Good!

I just remembered... If speeds are low this year, should we blame IndyCar?

Nio. We should blame the teams for throwing their toys out of the pram, and delaying aero kits till 2013. The Dallara Chassis was supposed to be designed as a base shell, not the overall car, and the teams are to blame just as much, if not more than IndyCar, for not helping the series out in it's transition.

Though, Randy still deserves a slap for not putting his foot down...

US congress are going to be voting on a bill that would prevent the US Millitary from sponsoring sporting events.

The article talks more about Nascar but it also has an effect on Panther's National Guard sponsorship.

$608 billion defense bill
$90 million in motor sports

That is 0.01% of the budget. Seriously, it literally is 0.01%.

Who cares if it's a tiny percentage? If they can use it to help the soldiers I don't give a damn.

Well that's not quite how it works is it? If you take it away from Motorsport then it goes back into the advertising budget and gets spent elsewhere. Remember they need new recruits, and it isn't that much money to get them. Removing motorsports from the budget doesn't suddenly give the soldiers a slightly better standard of living.

They're probably cutting the recruiting money and moving it someplace it's needed more.

But the problem is (same in UK) the militiary budgets have swelled uncontrollably over the past 10 or so years and these are only now being reigned in. There have been massive cuts over the past few years already and $90m being spent annually on motorsports is going to be heavily scrutinised especially when regiments are being closed down.

Why sponsor cars when there is already a presence in the pre-race ceremonies. I think that's also the issue with those wanting the sponsorship to stop as well.

For some reason I don't see that money "going to help the troops".
