I have a possible of 32 entries so far. Bernard says Honda and Chevrolet are able to prove engines to more entries, as he expects Lotus to expand just for one more (Alesi) and claims he's confident we'll get more than 33 entries. Dallara claims to have 60 DW12 built so far.

Good list, Gabriel.

I assume that Davey Hamilton and John Andretti are going to stay in sidelines?

But what about Alex Lloyd, Ho-Pin Tung, Vitor Meira, Bertrand Baguette, Pippa Mann, Tomas Scheckter and Buddy Rice? I think that at least one of them is going for the Indy.

I'm quite sure that we'll get to see a good Bump day with this field already.

Meira is full time in Stock Car Brazil now. Baguette is in sports cars, though I won't miss him, he's a nobody.

I liked Townsend Bell during the broadcast, but I would rather see him in a car. Underrated driver if there is any.

My dad had his first look at the new car today (he usually only watches Indianapolis) and said "it's not really an open-wheeler anymore".
My reply to that:

Bell is prety much secured for Indy. I read a while ago that Meira was still looking for an Indy-only ride this year, maybe he can work something out with AJ Foyt.

Sorry, dude, but imagine if Marcus Ericsson was looking for a ride at Indy? How many fucks would you give? I imagine zero, or less.

Marcus Ericson didn't almost win the Indy 500 last year

Saying that Baguette "almost won" Indy last year is making a chicken out of a feather. No, it's more like making a dinosaur out of a chicken. Hildebrand almost won Indy last year, that is fair.

Anywho, I sincerely hope that Scheckter gets a ride soon. He's too damn good to be left out.

He led 11 laps until lap 198. He certainly isn't a nobody like you claim.

From what I remember, it was because of pit strategy that had effectively zero chance of actually working. So no, he didn't almost win the race.

Isn't the race 200 laps? so if there was a caution on lap 196, he'd have won it.
Sounds like a fairly good chance of winning given Indycar don't do GWC, well far more than the "zero chance of actually working" than you make it out to be.

All I remember is watching it and thinking "he has no chance."

Yeah, I don't think Indycar ever let you forget it...

The difference being that Marcus Ericsson isn't that good, while Bertrand Baguette could have legitimately won Indy(he had speed throughout the month of May) and should be in a factory Peugeot right now.

As a matter of fact, I'm honestly shocked that a parallel was even made.

More often than not, circumstance decides the winner at Indy, not outright speed.

Maybe I missed it, but why does the IRL feel compelled to schedule directly against NASCAR all the time? If you're looking for viewership, why would you put Barber against Martinsville and leave Easter weekend open? I realize there's only so many possible days for racing in any given season, but they seem to do it more often than they should.

I've read that it had something to do with the Masters being last weekend.
