Oh dear, well, no big loss really...

Has he ever done anything of note when he wasn't racing the best car in the field by miles?

5 Top 10s in 9 races with Dale Coyne, isn't impressive? His teammate, James Jakes, best finish of the season was 13th.

In terms of overall talent. Bourdais is easily in Top 5 in IndyCar. So, yeah. It's a loss to the series.

Looking forward to a new era in the IndyCar series, a new car, new drivers, new rules, no Danica mania, etc. Should be a great season of close competition.

I have more respect for Bourdais than for most F1 drivers today; winner in F3000, CART, sports cars, V8SC, and should do very well in this Indycar ride.

Not to mention his rookie year in CART in 2003 was pretty impressive. Of course the field back then wasn't what it used to be but he had some good drives.

If you can master that many types of machinery, you're bloody brilliant. How many in this day and age has that kind of resume?

Anyone who claims he isn't good is either stupid or a troll. My problem with him is he is just spends the entire time moaning about everything. :p He has the least likeable personality of almost any driver I've ever watched lol, but there's no doubt he's pretty damn good.

Going back to reality for a moment, the Lotus engine is unfiltered crap, and someone like Bourdais is not quite good enough to perform miracles with it. His absence, for however long it lasts, will not be a significant detritus to the racing.

Then again, no-one in the field would be able to perform miracles with it either.

Except maybe Rubens.

Thank God he's got a Chevy in the back.

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.

Apparently there is a chance for a rebuilt engine to go to Bourdais. That's what I read on Twitter. Oh, and 1 spare engine for all the Lotus teams.

Rubens is overrated. I really don't see why everyone is thinking he will be a contender this year.

Because that's what usually happens when a decent F1 driver goes to IndyCar?

And it doesn't have to be a veteran of 100+ races. Justin Wilson and Bobby-D were winning races in CCWS during the Bourdais' years.

Bourdais is a good driver but he is terrible at fan interaction. My brother and i both waved and yelled go seabass at him in sebring in 2010 and he completely blew us off. No wave or acknowledgement, just nothing. I wont root for him after that.

The fact that Doornbos was winning races says more about the quality of the series back then.

And he beat aforementioned spiffing driver Seabass while doing it.
