I'd wager those who like the new Indycar are a lot quieter than those who dislike it. I personally like it a lot, including the sidepods. But I don't have a problem with designs breaking away from the traditional look.

Everything else I see as pretty normal for introducing an all-new car and new engines. Like everything else it will normalise after a while.

Yeah, but everyone is still sensible to what happened in Las Vegas, so any slight indication that it may run like that, should (and must) get their full attention. I've been very optimistic on this whole new formulae and I think that it's a big step forward, so I'm hoping IndyCar is making an approach similar to what NASCAR has done with the COT, that has changed a lot since it was first raced in 2007. They are still figuring out the oval packages, so hopefully with the data they gathered from the Texas/Fontana test, they can make changes before the races.

I don't give a shit about the looks, and the engine noise is second only to the F1 turbos of the late 80's IMO. However, the aero kit bullshit, and the engine manufacturers dictating who to give engines to, and the exclusion of dedicated engine builders that don't have a name to badge, plus not being able to use the old engines, and only 550 horses on the ovals are some things I hate about this new deal. TYhe engine formula should have been a max displacement and something like V8(NA), V or I6(T-single), I-4 or flat-4(twin-T), set rev limits accordingly, then restrict as such.

I was reading am article about MSR and Tracy, and Michael Shank said they have a Lotus engine but can't start running because they need more money after they lost their sponsor, witch is thought to be Honda. Tracy was sponsored by Honda Canada the last races he started. And if so why would Shank go after a Lotus engine? It seems pretty obvious Honda won't sponsor a team running a Lotus.

There's only two ways I can figure that one,
1. They wanted a Honda engine, Honda couldn't so they signed with Lotus. Honda of Canada bolts.
2. Some other random PT sponsor just never got around to signing a contract.

Once they get a season done with the new cars and engines things will get much better.

Apparently Barrichello has signed a deal with KV

Quote:
SAO PAULO, Brazil -- A Brazilian newspaper is reporting that Formula One veteran Rubens Barrichello has reached a deal with a sponsor that will allow him to race in IndyCar this season.
The Estado de S. Paulo newspaper, one of Brazil's largest, said Tuesday that Barrichello will get support from Brasil Maquinas, a company which rents heavy construction equipment. It already sponsors a local stock car team.
An official announcement that Barrichello will be joining KV Racing Technology is reportedly scheduled for Thursday.
The 39-year-old Brazilian tested for KV Racing recently after losing his F1 drive job with the Williams team.
Estado said Brasil Maquinas will likely spend nearly $3 million to sponsor Barrichello. The company had already been trying to help him maintain his F1 spot.
